Chrono Cross crash, have gone absolutely insane.

Ok short as possible:

Chrono Cross crashes right after the scene where Kid gets stabbed and you switch characters to Lynx. The movie where kid is standing on the beach is where it locks up, RIGHT as it starts. (The console in the background gives me a CDROM read error at 56, 26, 42 or something like that)

I'm playing with an original 2 CD set, and have done a blindread of it to test it out (it has 342 bad sectors but I was told this is normal)

I have the newest version of ePSXe and all the plugins I can find all over the net. NO combination of cdrom plugins and settings makes it work that I've yet found. I have 3 CD drives, none of them get me past that scene. Here are the pertinent details of my system:

Tbird 800
512 ram
newest drivers for video and everything else too (Tried older ones too and have tried reinstalling windows XP)
Creative 52x cdrom
Compaq 6x dvd
BTC 32x CDR
Geforce2 GTS

I found a place on the net that said movie lockups can be caused by sync data transfer with the CDROMs so I've tried to find a way to disable that in XP but I think its impossible. (Been looking all night long, even tried Tweak XP)

HELP!! :(

Hmm

Just tried it with an older version of epsxe, almost the same error, but the movie crashed after about 1.5 seconds instead of 0.5 -- And I got some different errors but basically the same thing... "W2k buffer read error - 58 28 32" except 32 changes a whole lot there is like

How could the disc be bad? Its an original USA disc, no scratches or anything even. This is only the 3rd time its even been used.

Requiem2000 : Interesting, i dont have problem you mentioned,but as i look at errors ... looks like that image is bad.I got similar error when i patched iso with incorrect ppf patch. What bios you tried ? Tried to press F7 (chronocross patch ?)

Looks to me like the disk is damaged. I doubt that making an iso could get you past this, as this area can't be read correctly. Sorry but a replacement may be in order.

In the meantime the only way to get past this would be to post a memory card (savestates are too big to attach to the board.) and have someone else play past that part. When doing so please mention which version of the game you have (ie jap or us).

I'll post bios image as soon as my ftp starts working correctly again.

spajdr: Yes I've tried f7 chrono patch, and Ive tried waiting 20 minutes to see if it would bulldoze its way thru the error. Nothing.

I am using bios scph1001.bin

If someone is willing to just play past that movie let me know, save the state or the game after that movie and send it back. Its a temporary solution I suppose, because Im gonna just go rent or buy it again to finish it.

The only way...........

if ur halfway thru the game and didnt get leena yet then trust me on this u'll never get her at the end of the game. The only way u can get Leena is to refuse kid to join u at ur first encounter when u finished fighting Karsh, Solt and Peppor after that kid will ask if she can accompany u just decline her offer then u'll be waken up by leena in ur house at other world then she'll voluntarily join........................pufff puufff puff

my goodness that was tiring i need a beer
