suddently, and for no aparent reason, my average computer temperature has increased. I checked and all my fans (5, at the total) are working fine and at the normal speed, there are no cables obstructing the airflows, and all the dust is clean. it increased (this is the temperature while doing nothing) from 54ÂşC (CPU) / 24ÂşC (mobo) to 57ÂşC (CPU) / 26ÂşC (mobo). And what its most preocupant, is that it goes to 60ÂşC very easily :(

so, any ideas of what might have happened?

its hoter, but i dont think it justifies such dramatic thing... the computer is in the same place tough.

can it be that my frustrated efforts to remove the heatsink "deglued" (sorry, i dont know the right word) the thermal compound (wich i dont know if i have)?

hmmm, prolly yes, if i take of the ram stick... u mean the side that has the strangest connector or the most ormal one (sry, i can explain the very well)?

any good advices on getting it back on? ;)

The side with the strange connector. :)

btw, what are you using to monitor the temp? the mobo temp indicator in the BIOS isn't exactly a very accurate one....

1,8 volt, i believe :)

well m8z, looks like im in deep shit ;)
look at this:

strange connector - i dont even have the space ti stick a screwdriver, even with the ram out (believe me, i tried ;) ) and if i try harder i might scrap the mobo.

PS - using Asus probe to monitor the temp :)

That's funny, it should release itself as soon as you apply enough pressure on the heatsink locks.

btw, you SHOULD remove the mobo from the case, in case you haven't done so yet. ;)

fans, fans, fans, and more fans everywhere will solve your problem.

Neojag, I have seen your PC from insdie, and telling you the truth the air exhaustion in your PC is not at all good, There should be atleast two fan to exhaust hot air out the PC, and one of them should be close to the processor.

i think u should buy a new heatsink for your proc for example Alpha PAL 8045 or HHC 001 (Coolermaster Super Heat Pipe), i personally recommend that u buy Alpha PAL 8045 its the best heatsink for Athlon Proc or if u dont have enough cash for it you can try HHC 001 (Coolermaster Super Heat PIpe) btw im using HHC 001 for my Athlon XP 1800+ proc and my temp 43 idle, 46 full load wth one exhaust fan and one intake fan and my mobo temp is at 30-34 but if my ambient temp (mobo temp goes down im pretty sure that my proc temp will goes down as well) but i dont think that will happen in my country (or my places i think) ... NOTE : im not using Air Conditioner on my room

if you don't know what your doing then don't do it unless your prepaired to pay for it. shori is basically right. it depends on the clip. you shouldn't need a screwdriver and chances are you'll bust something else if your prying with it.

your heatsink doesnt look like its up to the task of cooling an athlon.

go here and buy a glaciator II if your worried about temps. I have two of them on my dual p3 board.
