this improvement is only for software mode?
judging from what gabest was talking about in that post, i'd say yeah its only for software mode.

it seems gabest has incorporated a different way to cache textures in the software mode that doesn't need to freeze and unfreeze xmm regs for a certain function.
(freezing/unfreezing xmm regs alot can slow things down :p)

omg this has been asked a million times

you need to update to the latest directX!
the link is in the first page of this thread!

i thought 1 core=1thread...?

now i tested the software renderer of revision 843, and i must say:
congrats for the nice optimisations! :thumb:
I never thought it would be so fast like this!

i get ~35fps on the highroad with the specs in my sig.
+10fps more when nloop0 is turned off.

now we're close to a perfect GS emulation, but a Quad with SSE4 is still needed for best Speed :p

ah what i forgot:
isn't there a way to turn texture filtering off?
i turned it off but its still on.

i bet it would squeeze some more fps out when its disabled.

i meant 843 lol ... XD

well that DX9 Highroad thing in Vista is still bugging me.
when i set the Emu priority to low or normal, the fps are jumping between 15-20fps.
on high there jumping too but between 30-50fps.
thats kinda weird because i didn't move Tidus while the fps jumps.

i played around with the threaded optimisation of the nvidia driver,
still no luck to get a stable framerate like with DX10.

btw: i have the same problem with doom 3! (PC version)
when i look up to the space ship at the beginning the FPS are jumping between 30-60fps,
but no problems in XP...

didn't someone of you guys noticed the same problems like me? oO

50 fps with e8400 now, several jrpgs and strategy games (culdcept :p) run mostly at realtime or at least half rate, there are always slower parts in all of them. Explosions, smoke, particle effects, where the same texture is drawn lots of times can make the fps drop below 10.

Not for the sw renderer, but if I do it manually in the code it gets about 10% faster.

Hi every body !

I have got some troubleshouting with FF XI.

During the FMV, if i change windowed mode to fullscreen, some black frames appears randomly.

On DX9 windowed mode, i can't change to full screen mode, alt+enter does nothing.

It's seems that i didn't have thoses problems before updating to the last directx runtime.

My spec :
E8500@3.6Ghz
HD4850 * 2 (CF) (catalyst 8.7)
4G rams
Vista utltimate x64
Screen native resolution : 1920*1200

PCSX2 0.94 (tried 0.95 and lastest SVN but the problem is the same)
GSDX 1.8 (tried latest SVN and SS2-3-4)
ZeroSPU2 0.4.6

Anyone ever had this problem ? Or an idea how to fix it ?

yep, that also happens with a high internal resolution in hardware mode.
in DX9 now much slower since i use vista ....
i think the bottleneck is the vram then?

turning off aero and using fullscreen doesn't help.

You mentioned there was a big difference if you changed priority to high, but still varied a lot. Isn't there anything else making little unnoticable spikes in cpu usage?

Btw, you could run vtune on it, if you install all the symbol files then you will even see the function names of other dlls in windows. (example pics: all modules and inside ntoskrnl.exe, nvwgf2um.dll could be also interesing, that's nvidia's dll)

I have a question for Gabest or anyone who might know the answer.
I have a japanesse game: Bleach blade battlers 2nd.
And in this game, sofware rendering is faster than hardware.
Is this normal?
Also I noticed that what is slowing the game down big time, is the caracters.
When we see a caracter, boom LOT slower.
Ive made a .gs just in case someone want to take a look
Thanks
