Well hello, hello! Had to register for this actually, been using these forums for ages, but used to search for answers and read about stuff only ;)

I didn't come across with a solution to my problem after a long time of searching for an answer, I decided it's better to just post about it then see what happens. Anyway to the point, my problem is the FMV that plays at the SeeD graduation party. Everything has worked fine with the game until I reached that part, the sound has been good, FMVs and graphics overall have been great. The first FMV at that party plays well where you see the shooting star and Rinoa walks up to Squall, but the one that comes after gets problematic. It first starts well until you get to the part where Rinoa and Squall clash with another dancing pair. After that clash the screen soon moves closer to Rinoa's face, the music gets lower and all of the sudden the screen stops, but music continues on with half tempo from as it should be heard.

This is an ISO that I have been using for this game, I have been playing it with ePSXe 1.6.0, but I also tried out 1.5.2 as well as PSXeven and pSX. The same glitch happens with every emulator I have been trying. I tried changing the video plugins and still get the same result (I only tried out the different Pete's plugins). Problem could be within the ISO file itself, to confirm that I'm getting another ISO file for the first disc right now. I also tried that FMV skipping with the "-nomdec" command line, didn't work.

I hope I didn't forget something important, but anyways I hope someone can help me with this issue. I'll tell how it goes with the other ISO when I get my hands on it. I really want to play this game trough again, been too many years since I last played it on my PS ;(

what do you mean your "getting another"? are you getting you images from your own disk or are you downloading the game? if you have downloaded it then thats your problem, images you get off the net are pure crap. its also against the rules here because we dont offer support for pirated material.

well then nevermind. we get alot of that here so i hope you know its pretty much protocol suspecting this sort of thing nowadays, nothing personal. anyway have you tried playing directly from the disk? i suggest you test the disk on a real ps to see if the issue occurs on that as well. its possible you disc could be damaged, any image you make of it could possibly have trouble reading the same spot as well, although that isnt always the case.

Thanks for the plugin advice Squall-Leonhart, didn't solve the problem that I had, but works nice otherwise :)

Seems there is a problem with my original FF8 disc however. :(
That means I got to wait until next week for my brother to bring me another copy of the game. Sucks, but what can you do. ;/

Thanks for the help anyway! I hope I got better luck with the other disc. :)

maybe Squenix can send you out a replacement disk.

Well, first of all I don't speak English perfectly so... excuse me ;) :p My language is actually Spanish and I don't use frequently the English.

Like Ilneas, this is exactly my problem! I'm playing FF VIII and when is the SeeD graduation the video stays on Rinoa face... Hmm I know she's cute but I prefer keep playing :p

I tried to did what Squall-Leonhart said but I can't configure it exactly like him. Here you can see:

Plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.7
Author: Pete Bernert
Card vendor: Intel
GFX card: Intel 945G

Resolution/Color:
- 640x480 Window mode
- Internal X resolution: 2
- Internal Y resolution: 2
- Keep psx aspect ratio: off
- No render-to-texture: on

- Filtering: 4
- Hi-Res textures: 2
- TexWin pixel shader: on
- VRam size: 0 MBytes

Framerate:
- FPS limitation: on
- Frame skipping: off
- FPS limit: Auto

Compatibility:
- Offscreen drawing: 1
- Framebuffer effects: 3
- Framebuffer uploads: 2

Misc:
- Scanlines: off
- Mdec filter: on
- Screen filtering: on
- Shader effects: 1/4
- Flicker-fix border size: 0
- GF4/XP crash fix: off
- Game fixes: on [00000002]

Hmmm... when I use ePSXe to run the game, a window says: "No buffer available!" and if I press accept and I wait, I can hear the song from the beginning of the game, is like a military march :p but I can't see anything! the window is totally black and I don't know if I could see something in the part where is my problem, it could be fixed so... HELP! I wanna play FF VIII again because I love it!

And excuse again, just try to guess what I want to say and if you can, support me please :)

turn the x and y resolutions down, way down. turn "no render to texture" and "text win pixel shader" off as well. i would actually use a different plugin with that GPU, either the d3d or OGL1 but its your call really.

the 945G does not have full OGL2 support, use the Dx6 plugin (since it doesn't support Dx7's TnL either)

well... thanks for the advices of the plugins, they are working correctly... But it doesn't solve my original problem of the graduation dance video that is still the same, no matter the plugin the video stays on Rinoa's face, soooo oO:???::???:

what are you playing from the disc or an image?

and what exactly are you suggesting here? i hope you are aware of the rules of this forum. the only images you should be using are ones that come from your own discs, anything else will you will not get support for on this board.
