I saw in many benchmars sites that most games run faster than 60 fps. How can i do it? In this site for example(see the screenhot below) it says that Doom 3 runs at 127 fps in ultra quality and 1024x768 resolution. I tested it with theese settings and it runns only 60 fps. After that i tested in low quality, and it runs only 60 fps!! So how can i break the 60 fps????

Doom3 doesn't allow it. the FPS lock is there to prevent the video from going out of sync with the audio.

the doom 3 engine has a frame rate cap from what i remember, i think there is a command you can enter that disables it or there is a patched version that removes this cap though. games such as quake 4 have this cap also. as for other games you will need to turn off vsync and/or force vsync off if there is no in-game option to do so.

yes, but the latest patch for Doom3 and Quake4's original release no longer support this command.

you don't need more then 60fps anyway, if you do, your obviously SPEED CHEATING.

I got my new gpu(8800gt 512mb) yesterday so i realy need to disable the 60 fps limit in ALL pc games , because i want to do some benchmarks, just to test my new gpu:)

Doom3 dosent work anymoere.. I tested it now i get a black sreen.. Is something wrong with the gpu drivers maybe??

using Vista?, set windows update to notify only.

then go to the nvidia site and get the latest final release.

Speed cheating? Any properly coded game should run at the exact same speed no matter how many times the image on your screen is rendered and refreshed on your screen.

Thre is a big problem with doom3... It dosent work anymore!! I dont know why.. It worked ok with my old 8600 but it dosent work at all with my new 8800... I tested all my emulators&pc games and Doom3 is the only game that dosent work.. When i click the doom3 icon the game starts becaue there is sound but it dosent show anything in the screen.:( I deleted it and installed again but it dosent work.. It has sound but i can not see anything in the screen.. I havent found any other problem like this with others pc games... Wjy it dosent work?:(

It doesn't work because NVIDIA's drivers are going strait to hell. NVIDIA's drivers are starting to suck more and more. Many popular games are not working under NVIDIA's latest drivers. More popular titles include Theif 1 and 2, Theif Deadly shadows, MDK, Doom3 (as stated), and worst of all, Alien vs Predator Gold.

Click here and you can see the nvidia forums with threads all about games that have issues with NVIDIA cards and drivers.

Lol, I couldn't use the latest official drivers and had to roll back to the 163.75 Forceware drivers.

Hopefully this will give you a bit of insight:

NVIDIA Forums -> Graphics Problems with Forceware 169.21 XP

This is a problem with the latest forceware drivers and Doom 3 engine games as well as other ones.

It happens my problem was with Prey which uses a modified Doom 3 engine to my understanding.

Stay clear away from the 169.21 drivers and the newest beta's unless you want one gigantic headache and a butt load of problems.;)

its not the game, its the Doom3 video engine at fault, if you take the FPS past 60 it breaks audiosync due to running faster. there are quite a few games that have this issue, on other non doom3 engines, some even being Dx based.

I am downloading 162.65 drivers now! But will it work with my 8800gt?? Why the new drivers suck??

I'm not sure what NVIDIA is doing with their drivers, but when the code and implementation of driver's graphics command changes, it can create unexpected bugs. Some improvements (such as optimizations) in drivers can ruin other games. So all we can really do is hope NVIDIA takes heed of this and fixes it. QIII engine based games are all having the same problem (Even Quake IV).

Q3 engine games have had issues on and off for the last 2 years, its in no way a new problem.

I try to install the 169.2 driver but computer crashes during installation. Then i try again with the 169.9 driver but it crashed too during installation... Now ican not play any game at all because i can not install any driver!!!! I deleted the 169,20 driver. Why i can not install the drivers???

I am currently using 169.21 and have had no issues with it on my 8800GT, they work fairly well. Try rolling back the drivers you installed off your installation disc (If you did use them).

Rolling back is not recommended.. its a killjoy function lol.

anyway, boot into SAFE MODE, clean up any remnants of the previous drivers if needs be and reboot back into SAFE MODE and proceed to install the drivers.

Safemode, is still the best way to safely install and update drivers.
