Well, they SHOULD be doing a patch, but they havent said anything about doing one yet.

The only thing they said was ''we're looking into the crashes and will give you info whenever we find something", same for stutters.

Well, I may try it... I did try halo, so I might give chance to this but right now I'm just too busy with WoW, mask of the betrayer, Battle for middle Earth 2(that I got cheap from my friend along with 5 other games) and Ghost Recon AW... Goddamn, give me watch that can freeze time please! But I just gave my opinion of this, and I'm not expecting much...

Don't worry, this is way better than what happened to Halo... Both Halo port were goddamn awfully made... GoW was actually converted to PC very well.

This game looks better then anything I've ever run on my machine, really.

Even with lowest settings, which I have to use cause it lags like hell.

And even then, it looks much better then Crysis and runs better as well. Gameplay is much more enjoyable too.

From what I can tell, performance/quality wise GoW win for Low-Medium end PC, tie with Crysis for High-perf PC, Crysis wins for Very-High end PC.

GoW is more of a game of the moment, Crysis aims at being awesome for years to come.

It's definitely inferior... but just a bit.
I would say way more inferior than just a bit or a little bit. I've been playing the demo of Crysis and it looks way more better than any game currently out on the market even at it's absolute lowest settings. On the highest settings it can definitely wipe the floor with about any recent or upcoming console games in the near future.

But the Koreans on Crysis are just so damn annoying and I keep getting killed right away. Of course it's hard to conquer an army at 3 - 5 FPS goodness, so they are essentially superman compared to me.:(:dead:

I can't deny that Gears of War looks superb as well which I'll be picking up soon but compared to Crysis in terms of graphics, Crysis > GoW.

For all of you that will try to claim I'm wrong, just try playing Gow, Crysis, Lost Planet, Bioshock or any other Next Gen (Now current gen) game that has been ported to PC on the absolute lowest settings and Crysis will definitely stand out above the rest in visual quality and crispness.;)

If I must, I'll take the liberty of posting some screencaps myself on low settings of each game to point out the huge difference in appearance, visual quality, crispness and clarity in Crysis over all games currently ported from the 360 to PC.

Whaaaaaaaa??? You confuse me. :p And by the way, try them out on the highest settings. GoW definitely runs smoother at its highest settings (without AA) than Crysis at Medium. And with GoW on Highest, it's on par with Crysis at High.

There was actually a error in what I said, both the shadow AND textures options werent max, not shadow only.

I went back and took screenshots with everything maxed now, even shadows (and textures this time x_x)

I'm not using a MEGA powerful computer, and I still get a steady 30fps. I probably can get a better FPS then that, but the game has a smooth V-sync even if you don't activate it.

GoW definitely runs smoother at its highest settings (without AA) than Crysis at Medium. And with GoW on Highest, it's on par with Crysis at High.
Definitly about the smoothness, but I think I'd say Crysis looks a little better at all-high then GoW at highest, but only a little better.

It does kill GoW at all very high, but GoW being at the beginning a game on the 360, it does a wonderfull job gfx-wise in the transition.

I'm not trying to argue here, but after seeing Gow running and several screencaps of it, Crysis on the lowest settings definitely looks more impressive than Gow even on high.

Sure I may not have shadows on low in Crysis, but the texture quality, crispness, and graphics definitely shows and stands out much better than any game right now at the moment. Not to mention the clearness or crisp quality when looking into the distance or over the water in the Crysis demo.

You might not notice anything since you can probably run nearly every game on high with your PC, but for someone as myself who needs to run almost everything on low Crysis definitely stands out above anything else at this time even at it's absolute lowest settings.

I however don't want to debate on this any longer, but if anyone cares I'll take it to the bin and post some comparisons. Now lets get back to the topic as I don't want this thread winding up out of control.

I remember seeing a huge ass monster/alien back in the trailers of GoW before it ever came out, does anyone know if you ever got to fight it on the 360? If not, can you now fight it in the PC version?

I'm also going to be picking up UT3, some time after I get this game for my PC although they'll play like butt on my current machine.

Also you can't max Crysis out or run high or ultra high settings without some kind of performance hit, even on an 8800GTX. I see people trying to max this game/demo out at ultra high resolutions with AA, AF and such. There is going to be some kind of noticeable performance hit considering most people are trying to max out a brand new game on a nearly year old card now. You'll either have to lower some settings for the time or wait until the next series of ATI or Nvidia cards are available. I know that I'll probably hear someone saying, "Well I did it before with new games without problems". My response would be, "That was then, this is now. Things are more different, not to mention Crysis is a bit ahead of it's time considering current hardware can't run this game acceptably on high/ultra high settings".

I believe someone on this forum told me the retail version of Crysis would run much better than the demo/beta and be less GPU dependent. I'm not sure if the demo has multi-core CPU support. If not that will likely be implemented in the full retail version, thus increasing performance even more. :D

A screen showing all the level of quality in Crysis (and Low).

Looking at that and having played the multi at low, I really can't say it beats GoW at High tho.

Otherwise, I think the monster/alien couldnt be fought in the 360, but can be on the PC from what I've been told/read.

@Xtreme2damax: What I'm trying to say here is that... you don't even have the game to run at low settings, so there is no way to compare it with Crysis to begin with. Also, like I said, this game runs much smoother than Crysis and even faster than UT3 demo at its highest settings, so whatever your machine specs are, you should be able to run this game at some decent settings. You were the one who brought up the Crysis vs all other games argument. I am just trying to see what you're trying to compare Crysis to here... since you don't even have this game. :p

Thanakil: Screens taken at different intervals of time... so the Highest/High/Medium settings have almost no difference in quality at all. o.o The low setting does show its quality though... and I'm thinking... maybe CS 1.6 looks like that?

Well, I did see a difference in the different gfx options...

Mainly, higher textures would increase textures on environnement (various less-important items would have blurry textures, textures at highest would give them good textures) and everything looked a little more crispier.

High shadows instead of medium made everything look a little darker, there is a overall darkness to everything which complement in a good way the atmosphere.

Both arent some ''IN YOUR FACE!" increase in gfx quality, but more like a overhaul to what is already present.

Wow, work for the entire day and the topic I start yesterday hits Page 2 :p.

Thanks for the replies guys, looks like I might pick it up around the holidays. The whold Game For Windows logo on the box really turned me off, because from what I can recall, it did not mention WinXP on the box at all and the EB game staff were unsure because non of the customers who bought it actually said what OS they were using. I

It might just turn out to be another FPS shooter to me, but I like to play new FPS just for a slightly different thing from another FPS shooter game :p. For now though, I've still got the new F.E.A.R game to play :D.

Don't let the GFW tag put you off. Crysis has the same tag on the box and runs on XP and Vista.

GFW, is just a set of standard devs need to follow to earn the GFW tag or logo. Simple things like Gamepad support and full compatibility with an Xbox 360 gamepad, DX10 support although I'm not sure with this requirement if it's one of the guidelines.

To earn the GFW logo, games mus completely support the use of a gamepad or 360 controller and must be of certain quality. Guidelines for devs to earn the GFW or GFW live are explained on the website although I don't have a link atm.

I believe even though it uses live, online play is still free on the basic service, gold will give you achievements and other useless stuff most don't care about as well as access to gold only servers or matchtypes and content.

The newest G4WL games are crashing on my PC and a few other players PC, with the very same crashes, and most likely future games will do too (if two games using that tag crashes because of the newest update, in a crash I never had before, odds are its related...)

Those games are GoW and Viva Pinata, I can play for about 5 minutes and then it closes to my desktop without any error messages.

Luckily, I was able to make it so I didnt lose all my money by buying those games by fixing, by myself because devs havent found a fix yet, the problem...

Temporary Bandaid which worked at first :
-Open the WarGame-G4WLive.exe.cfg and remove <Liveconfig xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/XBOX/LIVE/LIVECONFIG/2007/01">. For Viva Pinata, just modify anything in it.
-save it
-Play the game without crashes, but with the impossiblity to save anything at all.

-Make sure NOTHING runs on your PC.
-Uninstall every program who refuses to close completely (example : Anti-virus, firewalls, ect).
-You REALLY have to have everything closed, otherwise it didnt work for me.
-Open Window Firewall, make sure it IS activated, go into "exceptions" and uncheck the games (Gears of War, Viva pinata, ect) to make it so the firewall will BLOCK THEM from the internet.
-Play

Doing this made the games work for me, running the game while Kasperky or a third party firewall was on my PC would make the game crash, playing without those softwares but without blocking the games in the Firewall would make the games crash too, both at the same time fixed it.

I would like to reiterate that those were the FIRST GAMES EVER to give me such a problem. Removing Live from the games would fix them, but without Live you cant save anything, not even audio/video changes.
