I don't know if you can really properly ''stress test'' that card with a isometric game, especially since that game wasnt exactly really optimized or anything to truly show the power of the PC it ran on, I remember lots of bugs, mainl ygraphical one, when I tried it when it first came out.

To truly stress test it, try something with more 3D (since that's what such a card will excell at) and more lightning effects.

Try either a big pvp area of a MMO (with lots of players) or something like Bioshock or even the Crysis Beta.

Make sure to really use the LATEST drivers you can get.

you'll see the most resource hug pure PVP base MMO called Fury [beta] and it run fine, Bioshock smooth as silk [ beta and full version]

Now the only thing I wanna know if my system can run Crysis on highest setting xD

Perhaps up to 1280x1024, above that I doubt it.

I dont know if i will even go up to the dx10 cards. I mean its pointless now. Look at the graphics my x1800xt produces, it is REALLY good, but i cant play pong anymore because f it and my new system!:( Pong runs too fast. I also tried the old atari emulator, it also ran 9x the right speed. I dont think video game graphics should get any better than the Oblivion graphics. It will teach kids too kill people like everyone used too say. Or like in the movie Toys, with robin williams(really good movie by the way)

Oh and the music was a good touch, and what was the games name?

Well, DX10 is kinda pointless actually, but the DX10 cards arent that pointless, the 8800 is definitly a lot stronger than most of the cards.

And I don't think we're to the point where it will ''teach kids to kill'' and whenever it get to that point, well...

The military will be freakin happy! (I've already seen a few ''It's like being in a video game but for real'' military ads on TV... I swear to god... I didnt know if I should laugh at it or cry for how stupid it has become).

If a single geforce 8800, can run Crytek on DX10 with all settings on high, in high-res, I'll be dissapointed!
Why would you be disappointed?

Actually, it should be the contrary... You already know how good the game looks (you can see MANY screenshots and videos), a single 8800 running the game only means that the engine is VERY optimized.

Let me tell you, in the current Multi beta, I can play the game with a single 7950GT at 1024, most settings to high, a few to medium.

My FPS hover around 30, it drops to 15-20 if I get in a new area of the maps while it loads thing, but other then that, my fps usually stick to 25-30.

Since a 8800 is a lot stronger, and since DX10 effects don't require some OMGWTF power, only the card to be made to support it, then a single 8800 running the game at high with a nice reso is perfectly possible.

Well, videos and screenshots says nothing these days. I will wait until I've seen the game. Anyway your geforce 7950 GT at 1024 most settings to high a few at medium with 30/15-20 fps on DX9... also points to the fact that it won't run smoothly with all on high with Geforce 8800 on Dx10.

Anyway, the reason I said so is that I expect it to take PC graphics to new levels, and in doing so using DX10 a lot more than the previous DX10 games has, 8800 being the first DX10 card is not THAT good a DX 10 card yet. I expect the 9800 to be a lot better on this deparment. I am too lazy these days giving such a short statements without explanation, but I've been busy.

The game already looks better than any other game in the market, so I'll be pleasantly surprised to see a game that finally makes one proud of his 500 Euro investment actually performing well in a game, rather than being held back by lazy coding.

Well, keep in mind that the game has been running at E3 on a single 8800 on all high, if the only thing you want is a game that will require a new computer, then go for CoD4, it was running on 2x8800GTX.

And the 15-20 fps is only when the game is loading new things, which only happen at the start of a new game, after everything is loaded, it keeps at 30.

And videos and screenshots say nothing these days? How can you say that, a screenshot saying nothing alright, but videos? You can find crystal clear videos taken from in-game footage, you can find videos showing you exactly what the game DOES look like from peoples running the first level of crysis with a narrator explaining what are the various objectives in the level and ect.

Those videos show exactly what the game does look like, nothing is modified as this is recorded straight from the PC.

Anyway, I think you over-estimate DX10, while DX10 will decrease your FPS, it won't go and kill it like hell because you are ''only'' using a 8800.

A 8800GTS should run it at high/ultra on 1024 just fine, it may slow down a little at 1600 (the 320mb will definitly slow down at 1600, the 640 shouldnt have too much prob), a GTX will run it a 1600 without a hitch.

Well, a HD quality video can be okay, in usual they provide low-res ones that don't say much. But still you have to play the game.. walk close to object.. look from different angels, and study everything in detail, I've been fooled to many times by pretty videos and screenshot to trust them anymore.

Well, if it means CoD4 is unoptimezed of course not.

Well, if you use a lot of geometry shaders instead of bump-mapping etc etc on each object, use the new lighting model functions and more advance soft shadows, etc etc.. it's very easy to kill the 8800GTX, so it's telling me they are not making heavy use of geometry shading in that case.

Well, what would be the point to make such a game if even the strongest current card can't even play it? ;)

Crysis is still the most advanced game as far as GFX go from what I can see from playing it, they already spent so much time making the best engine they can, I'd rather they release the game at the end of this year like they're planning to instead of making a game that almost nobody can play because they don't own a 9800XGTX.

It's fairly standard with blockbuster PC games these days put everything on max including AA, AS and it'll run like crap even with newest hardware. Nothing wrong with it, after all it has to be used for benchmark until the next such a big tittle comes out.

I am sure the engine is very scaleable, and good at doing geometry shading, I hope on the highest setting they'll make at least some use of it so we can see what DX10 can really do. I am afraid it'll be like the other titles though, DX9... with a few DX10 stuff added, and you can't tell that much difference.

D.s. I don't care so much about playing this game... the gameplay doesn't look that interesting :p I am just intressed to see how good it looks... just the same reason as I played the boring farcry! Of course if you want to play the game you want the requirements to be low enough to run and look great on your rig.

1000 aliens on the screen is for pussies, I doubt that card would take 1000 big breats boucing at same time!
OOO, yeah... I am hoping it'll finally work on the Geforce 10000 I keep trying to make it work but....
