I think the reason why its taking so long is that there are like no local mods for the Misc Console Discussion forums.

lol,

just wondering - what if that game is free to download (publishers don't get profit from it anymore), there was something like that with rooms, that afer xx years thay can be downloaded :)

Also, I'm pretty sure Daytona USA wasn't declared freeware =P

Anyway, it's not like the game costs a fortune to acquire (eBay - daytona usa, Games, Arcade, Jukeboxes Pinball items on eBay.com) and there's bound to be a version somewhere that works on a platform someone has.
Sure, I know, the Model 2 version itself isn't available cheap (and becomes increasingly rare, with cabinets ageing), but uhm... it wasn't supposed to be available to home users in the first place. If Sega wants to do that, they'll make a Sega Ages release or something.

Hmm, I usually get the report in my email. It gets sent to the specific forum mods and then admins.

Oh well, it happens.

Unless the company gets an extension, Disney renewed Mickey Mouse for another 75 years thanks to Sonny Bono, and there's no reason to expect a billion dollar industry couldn't get exemptions to delay the release of games for another 75 years.

Oh yeah, TOTALLY relevent. Obviously they won't want people playing Pong for free in 2045, when they could make so much money off it!
They might still want the IP, I'm sure Nintendo will be still selling Mario games then, and Disney will have the 100+ year editions of some of their movies...

You think software companies want you playing anything for free if they can stop you? If they're bothered by you playing 20 year old games for free what makes you think they won't still be bothered in the future?

A game you're playing for free is a game they aren't profiting from, with the idea of downloadable content, they may successfully eliminate used games completely, and then you'll have to buy 'em every X years when a new console comes out.

It's all about the benjimans!

Case closed. Thread was dealt with. Thanks for reporting it, we appreciate it.
Keep doing so, it's not because one slip through our busy schedules that we do not care about 'da rulez'. ;)

Cheers

It can happen. Anyway, maybe they're a bit short on staff... I'd like to think so.
Short on staff........no. But short on staff who actually want to show up and read the forums on a regular basis? That's a big yes.

I'm actually in the mood to demote a bunch of admins and bring up some new people. But maybe it'll pass.
