I am attempting to run PCSX2 on my laptop. It's specifications are:

Processor: intel core 2 duo T7200

R.A.M: 2 gigabytes (each stick set at 667 mhz)

Video Card: Nvidea Go 7950GTX 512 Vram

I tried playing the games Monster Hunter and FFXII via their DVDs (not ISOs from my hard drive) and PCSX2 won't load the games at all. It stays at the somewhat fadded white text that says "PCSX2". It seems to have a working FPS meter at the top, but there is no game being loaded. Help!

What are your plugins/setup? You shouldn't need to make an iso to get the game running (FF12 works fine straight off the DVD for me). You should be using PEOPS with your DVD drive selected and using File->Run CD/DVD.

Ok, make sure that you have a DVD drive (which I assume you do... The DVD should show up on the computer as being in your drive after you insert it). Set the interface to W2k/WXP if you are using Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Set the drive letter to your DVD drive. You will probably want to use Thread read and the 4Mb of additional cache, but these options shouldn't matter much.

Does the disk show up on your computer after you insert it?

You could also try the EFP polling CDVD Driver (which just needs a drive letter).
Yes, my computer reads the disc after I insert it into the optical drive. But I just testing EFP Polling and got my original error again, black screen with the FPS meter working atop.

Those were the settings that worked for me and if your disk is showing up as being in your drive when you select My Computer (and you can see the files on the disk) then I don't know what the problem is. Hopefully one of the other members can help you out.

Same Issue with Monster Hunter

I'm new at using this emulator, and I had the same issue running Monster Hunter. If anyone is reading this thread and has a good knowledge of how this works, the closest I can get to reading the disc is if I use the EFP Iso CDVD Driver, but all it does is read the disc as a audio CD. Then if I try and play the track the emulator crashes. I am having the same Issue as Empyrean_night when using the other 2 drivers, it either says theres a Error Opening CDVD Plugin, or it just goes to the browser screen and doesnt even register that theres a disc.

I got it to work!!!! I set the Driver to the Peops and set the Interface as:W2K/XP - IOCTL scsi commands, and set the Caching mode as:Smooth read - for drives with ps2 cd/dvd reading troubles and I set my disc speed to 4X. I'm having some troubles with the framerate but see if it works for you and let me know if you figure out a way to make it go faster.
