A few mods I really recommend are:

Natural Enviroments 2.1 (There are HDR and non-HDR versions.)
ANY Unique Landscapes : Diversified Environments such as Unique Landscapes : Stendarr Valley by Rancen

Those make a huge difference graphically and just seems more like a real world; more deversified terrain/tree/grass types and many many other things.

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul also is awesome just because of the fact of all the new items/dungeons/quests/rebalanced formula's/tougher melee combat.

Random Easter Eggs I've found sofar on my 'epic' quest through Oblivion:

Giant Nirnroot, collecting the normal ones is a pain in the neck, you're meant to be able to pin point them in the game, because they grow near rocks and water and make a 'subtle' sound as you approach, they are normally no taller than the average thistle.

Obvliously this nirnroot is a mutant, or in some really rich soil, it's human size! This one makes alot of noise in comparison to the normal nirnroots (eg; you can actually just hear it!). Map shot shows you where it is (yellow marker).

Don't pick it if you want to visit it again, as it only counts as 1 normal nirnroot!

Giant Mudcrab, well normally these pests are well...crab sized, and one sword swipe kills them, this one is obviously very well fed, but still goes down in one strike!

Suicidal Troll (complete with note), these guys had too much time on their hands, map and note shots included, for the lazy types it reads:

Mee wurst troll evurr
no buddy pay brijj tole
me nott sceary enuf
mee gett drunc an kil sellf
troll droun

Not your stereotypical troll under bridge huh, yeah those guys have it hard to in the toll racket!

Yea some of the mods can make it look very sexy, the 4096x4096 replacement texture mods certainly help distant textures too from other cells.

heres a couple of shots from it running on mine

Shot 1 - Overlooking the Cyrodill (mostly the Imperial City) from the hills
Shot 2 - Random bit of water
Shot 3 - Same place as shot 2 but turned round a bit

try searching for "distant ruins" on tes source/planetelderscrolls, that one is pretty nice, it lets you see forts and ayleid ruins at distance like the cities.

and could you link some of those texture replacements? preferrably some that don't slow my game down.

It won't slow your game down if you have 256MB or more of video ram, otherwise it will.

Hmm, looks like you are missing some water mods there ref.

Obscuriou's isn't bad, but having a collection of different handpicked moderations is much better.

Adrenaline oblivion (creatures spawn in herds, awesome ****! a real challanger without the "z0mg this thing is 5 times my strength... 148 health potions to the rescue :(" annoyance(s))

attack and hide (makes crime detection realistic, or even more difficult, your choice)

bounty reduction over time (murder someone, go crawl a dungeon or two, murder again, dungeoncrawl some more! Unless you're focused on powergaming using this together with attack and hide allows for unique outlaw opportunities without ruining a single aspect)

improved burglary (beeing a burglar now pays off, a journeyman or better now averagely gets more than he has to pay to get rid of fines)

living economy (mercantile ftw! it was not actually possible to obtain higher than 40 mercantile without spending 10 hours abusing the skilling system, and not it's possible, and very worth it because bickering is MUCH more difficult. Also merchants have their gold in a different manner... not so infinite anymore but not too little. balances alchemy without actually intending to)

delayed main quest (you start morrowind style instead. only without sargustas ergalla's blappering)

natural environments (much more beautiful and realistic nature, improved beauty, much tighter canopy...possible to get lost in the woods for a change)

keychain

new vampires (what can i say? vampires are finally fun!)

sentient weapon (have you played the gba zelda? the one with the crazy hat? well you now get weapons like that hat, commenting on everything from theft to skull bashing!)

severians katanas (you get katanas in the weapons pool! not just the akkaviri katana! perfectly balanced weapons)

aaaand that's it. In addition i have a plugin named "youuu.esp" (don't ask) that i made myself that balances the speed of leveling skills and makes you need 12 major skills to level up. I have personally never had a skill at lvl 100, so mostly all skills get a tiny increase in speed, armorer had the biggest while speechcraft and mercantile were the only ones that didn't get increased (mercantile because livingeconomy already took care of it)

hmm, maybe, but then i kinda like how the water looks ;p

Refraction bugged me to try this game out eons ago, he was glued to it like spunk to bathroom tiles. I got it, and it ran so slowly I didn't really bother with it, since upgrading my rig, I can now play it!

Well aside from the worst acting ever, horrific AI, a leveling system thats so broken, it's pathetic (seriously, go complete the game at lvl 1!), .........ramble........ramble................ramble......endless rambling.......people are dead from starvation at this point during my rant......ramble.

Anyhoo, the game holds appeal through murder and thievery, the whole sneaking into Mr Bliggy Pops house, stealing his prize gear and murdering his wife during her sleep is somewhat fun

Of course modding the game is fun, so meet Kismet, Mystic Elf, with a kick ass magical katana and a PVC body suit to go with it :D Of course this leads me to wonder (given the game has been out eons), what character you roam around with and with what mods was he/she made with.

Mods Currently Applied:
Advent Katanas 2
Beautiful People 2.2
Catsuit (Repackaged)
Growlfs Hot Clothes And Armor 3.5
nice... a few mods I highly suggest that you may want to try out:

high resolution face textures (100000% improvement over stock)
Qarls LOD texture replacement
Natural enviroments pack
Immersive interface
and last but not least, DarkUI them (scales the menus aswell)

anyway, the game is great... I <3 oblivion... one of the best rpg's ever IMO

edit: I'm an idiot... seems as if you are already using most of them :p
