whats up!!!!!!!!

just got a new pc its an emachines w3502 with these specs..

Celeron D with 512 ondie cache:evil:
512mb of pc3200:???:
80 gig 7200 rpm hdd:guitar:
atiexpress x300 integrated...very good believe it or not for epsxe anyway:thumb:
cdr-w-dvd drive
pci express x16 one free
pci x 2 free
pci express x1 free
300 watt psu

i got a question though how long has their been a celeron D out with 512 cache the reason why i ask is because i clearly remember not being able to buy a retail cpu or oem from newegg..

is this a special celeron D or just something so new that has not had time to the market yet??

i am going to do some benches to see how this fares against a P4 northwood or prescot,

i am looking at the CPU-Z info and it states the celeron i have is cedar-mill based whats that??

oh yeah i paid $200 for it brand spanking new in the box!!

that was a good deal ehh?

clock speed is 3.20ghz!

Everyone I've known that's purchased an e-machine computer has had problems with it. You will soon realize how I did that Celeron's indeed blow.

Celeron D isn't too bad. It has good potential for overclocking as well.

I remember my friend had a Emachine way back in the day. He had for years without any problems. So for every person who had a problem with a emachine theres 100's that had no problem. Really good specs for the price. My brother got a Great Quality prebuilt system for $187 for half those specs but that price includes the extended warranty. I think he got a Sempron 2600, 40 gig harddrive and 256 mb ram.

Emachine belong to gateway now. They are good for their price but they break down if you treat it badly. People who buy emachine are not computer pro so they just yank the power cord to turn it off. It breaks down because of stupid users not bad parts.

All I read was that you got an emachines and I didn't bother to read the rest. Your'e fuked! What posessed you to buy such a horrible device. I got my cheapass emachine a few years ago and it permanently crashed on me 8 months after buying it. One of my other friend's emachines self-destructed on him on the first day of purchase. I had to fix my mom's friend's emachine and another one of my friend's emachines. And finally, when my grandfather passed away recently he left an emachines computer for me. With my experience with emachines computers, I personally had no use for the damn thing and decided to give it to my little brother so he can learn how to use computers with it. For a week it worked fine and then one day it didn't turn on and the technical support people said that I most likely had to get a new motherboard for it which costs more than the whole computer itself. I just took out the ram, hard drive, and dvd/cd-rw rom drive and trashed the rest. That's five cases where I've seen an emachines computer screw up. I would say that the only good things about emachines computers are the monitors, keyboards, and speakers. Basically every except the computer itself. To sum it up in all, you get what you pay for.

I have to agree, prebuilt machines are not teh win.

they usually give you a fancy processor then make the rest of the machine suck, but in this case, due to the price, they give you a poor budget processor and a sucky machine around it ;p

i spose for $200 you cant complain, but its like getting rid of your TV to buy a black and white one

in a way i am not surprised the benchmarks also says its 2000+mps faster than a 3ghz pentium 4!!

the cedarmill celerons kick ass!!

heres proof..

I would say that the only good use for an emachines is for basic home stuff. Checking emails/forums, writing reports. Don't expect to do anything fancy with it and if you do, just save to some type of backup device frequently. If it's still in the box, take it back asap. Or tell the store clerk that it crashed on you the first day that you got it. They'll understand and return it for you because I'm sure they get that a lot from customers . No questions asked.

well i'll be damn this celeron D beats the crap out of an athlon 64 300 according to sisoft sandra!!
lol well of course it will, that is a dual core, the Athlon 64 3000 is only a single core, infact its about the same speed as the first Athlon 64's that came on the market :p so it sucks whichever way you look at it really!

You crazy talk about emachine. Emachine good they made by gateway. They have 1 year return so why you dont use that? Maybe your the type of user I was saying. :smash:

your problem with the machine will only be shown with high end gaming.
Problem 1: 300 watt psu
That is not recommended for any modern day supply. your system may get unstable if you do any intensive graphics or processing.

Problem 2: x300 try running oblivion or battlefield 2 with that thing and tell me how well the run. Horrible video card. Course it works with epsxe. epsxe requires almost no video card power by todays standards.

Because at the time I had a lot of illegal stuff and porn on it and I couldn't fix it myself to get that stuff off of it but I knew that they could.

If that were the case, you would have had people who were experts with computers run emachines computers, and realize how amazing they were and how long they lasted. I have never known anyone who bought an emachines and had it last longer than a year. Also, people don't pull the power plugs out of their computers. The completely oblivious people who know nothing about computers don't hook up everything themselves, and therefore wouldn't dare mess with unhooking anything.

I agree with what someone else said though, you get what you pay for. If the parts that emachines put into their computers are so great, why can you get an emachines with a set system specs for 299$ or lower, and for a good name brand, those same specs may cost you somewhere around $699. Having such a HUGE price difference between the same specs should certainly tell you something ;)

I think there is a reason why back in Malaysia no store owner would sell an emachine because they apparently didn's last very long and people aren't the type to buy a new computer every other year.

For $200 you got a good deal, some of our computers have single parts that cost more than that

Get a PCI-E graphics card for like $100 and up the memory to at least 1GB and you'll be fine.
