Does anyone have benchmarks comparing these two particular chips? I'm debating whether to get the laptop with the XP-M 2800+, depending on how much faster it is compare to the Celeron M 1.3. Thanks.

D.D: I own the 1.3 Celeron M, I'm trying to figure out whether I should buy the XP-M and eBay the old one.
Katsuya: I'm trying to compare just the CPUs, excluding factors such as RAM, HDD, etc., not to mention they can be easily upgraded.
n_w95482: I figured the 2800+ would be faster, but I want to know how much faster. As far as battery life, the Celeron M doesnt have speedstep-like technology, while the XP-M does, so maybe the XP-M would even have better battery life here?
Thanks to all of your replies.

BTW, I did a bench on my 1.3 C-M with Sisoft Sandra 2k5 Lite, and it lost to all XP @ 1800+ or up, but is close to 1.4 Pentium M. Is its performance THAT pathetic?

You also have to take into account that the XP-M is just a desktop processor running at a lower voltage while the Celeron/Pentium M were built from the ground up for mobility. Also, synthetic benchmarks aren't everything ;). Try testing some games on it then see if there's any comparison tests with the 2800+ that have game tests in them.

Edit: It seems that the Celeron M is based off of the Banias core (which I suspected), which is nothing bad at all :).

the 2800 xp M is way faster then the celeron M. the 2800Xp is just a desktop cpu. but gives out lower watts. and is unlock. the 2800XP is a mobile barton.

the Celeron m 1.3 is no where near the 2800xp mobile.

Even if it is based off the Banias core, I'm sure Intel probably crippled it by giving it half the cache it needs. I'd go with the XP-M.
I wouldn't say having 512K of cache is too crippling :p. As for the XP-M, go ahead and get it. It will be faster than the Celeron.
