I downloaded ePSXe 1.6.0 to play Xenogears on the computer.

I have the following plugins for it.
- gpuPete3D3
- gpuPeteDX6D3D
- gpuPeteOpenGL
- spuNull2Mixer
- spuPeopsDSound
- spuPeteMidas

Now the video is fine and I think the correct FPS for Xenogears is 50, but the sound is just totally messed up.

Null2 and DSound were skipping, but the sound was mostly correct. Midas has no skipping, but the sound is off. The exact problem seems to be pitch, because the ladies in the beginning movie sounded like men and the captain sounded like a super base. And this is with the settings for the Midas plug-in given on the ePSXe website.

Can anyone reccommend a different sound plug-in for Xenogears or tell me the correct configuration so that I can hear this right?

Well knowing what your CPU speed is, and what graphics and sound card you have would be helpful, but generaly the most reliable plugins for that game are Pete's OpenGL 1.75, and Eternal SPU 1.41. The sound skipping can be alliviated by increasing hte buffer size in Eternal or PEOPs Dsound (I use 22). The problem with increasing the buffer is it increases lag

CPU
- Pentium IV 3.40 GHz

Video Card
- NVidia GeForce 6800

Sound Card
- SoundMAX Digital Audio

Hope that helps.

Alright, I used the GPU and SPU you reccommended and it seems to be working good, but it's not quite perfect. I think there's a little reverb and the game is running the sound a little slower than I remember.

Edit - Nevermind, solved the sound problem with a buffer size of 10. But not I have a whole new problem. Seems the game won't start anymore. Most likely the disk need a little repair or something before it'll start, or perhaps I need some of those CD-ROM plugins.

just make an ISO, that eliminates the CD reading problem.

Xenogears IS NTSC, you must run it at 60FPS... it should fix your issue

btw, if you're playing the US version, there's lag between sound and video in most MDECs, it's not an emu problem... that's just they way the game runs on a real PSX :(

So he got a bug :D
Even on the real PSX, the sound in the intro is slightly delayed in the US version,
and the game beingo NTSC, it must but played with 60fps to prevent sound crackling

Use a program like CDRWin or ISOBuster
