xenogears glitch (black screen)

hi all. was wondering if someone could shed some light on this problem. i suspect this is a video glitch, i get a black screen and 1 inch of stuff shown on the bottom of my screen. the game runs fine; i.e: jumping and going into the game menu, but i cant see where i'm going. Help!
