AMD is planning on making an official price drop in July, so that means that the prices for these very good retailers will drop even lower than this. Man I love price wars. I wonder what Nvidia's reply will be.


The 4830 and 4850 are open box. all that means is that the device comes with JUST the card and only the card, no driver disks or manuals or anything like that. they are brand new cards. Just without the extra goodies.

Oh really? I guess I always assumed that open box meant the card was used and then returned. But I guess that's what re-certified is eh?

Open box still means it's like new....it was just returned without the extra contents.

Open box means not only will they probably not have "extras", but also you're rolling the dice and could get a defective item.

In NewEggs own words about open box items "The entire risk as to the quality and performance of these items is with the buyer. Newegg is liable for selling possibly faulty parts without putting them through stringent fault tests prior to reselling the item.

Newegg can try and use legal bull**** all they want but the people in the know can and will force newegg to replace any part which is faulty.

Usually there isn't much "forcing", I've had no problems returning anything open box or not. But that doesn't stop them from shipping you a defective item which you in turn have to ship back and wait for a replacement. The point is they know their is a good chance going get a defective item. Rather than just "throwing it away" they just put back up for sale at a discount and hope no one notices.:thumb:

Meh, well at least the 125 dollar 4870 is new. the standard price is 200 as far as i know.

Couldn't agree more, these kind of online statements are only valid if they're not against the law.

Cost vs benefits, you're not going to start a case against a huge company over a $80,- videocard.


As for ATi cards, they're dumping their current stock for bottom prices, expect an official pricedrop in the coming weeks. Good times for gamers
