Yeah, expectations can be set high. Certainly there will be bugs, when the first commercial version comes out, but I believe the team can do a lot better work this time.

The Witcher was not only harsh, but also sophisticated and thrilling. Let's see, how the story is shaped this time.

It may take a lot from computer.

If this thread stays alive till Demi comes back, it would be good to hear his opinions, too.

The game seems fun but I never played it for the simple fact that its text is too small. My computer is hooked up to my HDTV and theree's no way tomake he text bigger from the tiny font they used.

I was hoping the console version would fix that but its been canned!

I suppose he's reading a tale by marketing.

"Next gen game" ? oO
There's no such thing as next gen on PC, as it's a gradual process. In fact, the features he mentions are more like last gen, as Normal mapping and Parallax Mapping have been around for ~4 years, and are some basic DirectX 9 features...

Still, it looks like a very interesting game, I still have to play the first one though :(

wasn't the original game made with the aurora engine (dx8: nwn/kotor) ?

if so, this one should use the mass effect engine (dx9) I guess.

Mass Effect runs on the Unreal Engine 3. I seriously hope they don't move to the Electron Engine of NWN2, it's a POS in terms of performance, and it looked less impressive than the NWN1 engine in The Witcher...

Hmm indeed, they mention no new feature that wasn't available before. It really looks stunning though.

They mentioned heavy usage of normal maps and parallax mapping... I hope they give tessellation a try.

Tesselation either requires DX11 support, unless they want to do it on ATi's GPUs (R600 and newer), so don't count on it. What bothered me in the video were the ground textures though, they look hideous. Perhaps it was compression but to me it seemed like a big flat field, no foliage, no bumps nor anything. It's those big flat parts that really drag me out of a game. Otherwise, the game looks nice.

DiRT 2 is already being worked out for Dx11. And this is still in alpha stage, so I wouldn't discard the possibility.

And yeah, the ground does have a washed out look. Maybe they have yet to work the parallax and particles for it?

Tessellation can be done on any hardware that supports Dx10.

Dx11 tessellation just uses a dedicated tessellator.
