Well, here goes. I installed a 256 Mb PC2100 DDR RAM into the second slot of my mobo today but it doesnt seem to be indentified by windows or the BIOS. Yet, when I checked SisSandra - it did seem to locate and identify the second RAM slot. This is wierd, and I couldn't tell if they are clocked at the same speed or not. Any ideas? :eyemove:

Is it the same speed as your other stick of ram? because if the speeds dont match, i think the mobo defaults to the slowest stick of ram, also some makes of ram are incompatible with each other, so its best to get 2 sticks from the same company.Have you tried swapping the sticks around, or taking out the stick in slot 1 to make sure slot2 actually works.

of course you don't mix DDR's with SDRAM's? ;)

Dogmaan... never heard about it... I had few times few sticks of ram that were for example one PC2100 and one PC3200 and both stics were identified correctly...

Elly is lucky I can't get to work :)mad: ) atm. :p

You're mixing Unregistered memory (PC2100U) with Registered memory (PC2100R). You can't interchange those.

try reseating the RAM. it might not be clipped down all the way. also make sure there's no dust or large particles blocking one of the connecters.

Blah, it was like what Gaurav said. I went back to the store and got back a 128 DDR RAM stick instead -_- ( they don't have any DDR226 rams anymore, so eh...better than nothing I suppose.). The new stick works now , it should do till I decide to upgrade my mobo/cpu.
