Win 2003 Continuously Reboots After Sp1 Install

I just installed Windows 2003 Server Enterprise on my PC.

I got all the updates for the OS and then proceeded to installed SP1.

The installation of SP1 was successful and the PC restarted.

The Windows 2003 splash screen shows up and then the computer reboots! I turn off and on my PC and the same problems occured.

I tried safe mode and last known good configuration, and I just get the splash screen and then the system reboots again.

I need someway to repair this problem. Can somebody please help me with this issue.

You installed a $4,000 operating system on your home PC? Sounds like a waste. Would be better put to use on a powerful server, don't you think?
I just did a fresh install and installed SP1 right away and the same issue occurs. The OS continously reboots at the splash screen. I can hear the monitor changing resolution at the splash screen and then it changes back when the system reboots. Would it be a resolution issue?

Now I do have a dual boot setup with an existing Windows XP Pro install. Would that cause the problem?
first of all if you ever want a duel boot system you MUST (especally with xp) have a separate partition for that os as other wise you run into many issues and i have installed that os before, it worked but i dumped it off my system soon after as nothing seemed to work how i wanted and it was only me seeing if windows 2003 was even worth the hassle to have.
Okay, first of all, Windows 2003 is a SERVER OS. It's not going to cater to your average home user and the default installation is very different from XP. I really can't see any advantages to installing it on a desktop over XP.

I'm interested to find out what swatgod does for a living. I must be in the wrong business. It'd be great to have that much money lying around so you could go blow it on an software, try it out, then decide you don't like it and "dump it."

I'm installing this OS because I'm studying for my MCSE.
Get a legal copy and that wont happen ;) Dont you remember that microsoft said that ilegal copies would mess up the boot sectors with the updates? Thats probably what's happening

So that justifies pirating the Enterprise version of Windows 2003? You ever considered maybe doing things legitimately and installing the 120 day trial version of Windows 2003 Standard? That's 4 months. Granted, there's no trial for Enterprise, but do you really need it? All it does is add support for 8-way SMP, 32GB of RAM, and a few new services, such as clustering.

Listen, I don't like you accusing me of pirating the material!

The trial version I got with my Windows Server 2003 kit which I paid for is the Enterprise edition.

This four-book set (which comes with quiz software and a 180-day laboratory version of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, plus a coupon for 15 percent off the cost of each of the four exams), combined with some hands-on practical work, should be all you need to earn the new MCSE rating or the Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) certification.
Settle the heck down Flare. There's no need to freak out over something like this.
Hmm indeed. No need to blow fuses over a minor misunderstanding here folks :).

Whilst I don't have any experience with 2003 servers, I do have some with the x64. Anyways to cut a long story short, because x64 is only a "preview version" you can't install any major upgrades to it. If I was to hazard a guess I'd assume the 2003 trial is in the same category, as x64 was created from the 2003 codebase.

Your best bet is either to forget it, or request the new 2003 with sp1 trial cd from:

Oh waaaah. It's not like you haven't made plenty of incriminating posts in the past. 95% of this forum is nothing more than a bunch of pirate kiddies. Why should I expect anything other than the norm around here?

No, it was not. It´s a ridiculous rumor that somehow spread over the web.

If you still think otherwise, I challenge you to provide a link to a reputable news site about this.
