I experience the same thing!, I scanned all over the snow (I checked other walkthroughs and images of the locations). I scanned with the square button at the right spot but strange it doesn’t appear. I’m using ePSXe too.

Yeah don't except a response, those posts and this thread were made in 2001 ergo why this is in the archive section.
Check some YouTube walkthrough you most likely missed a step somewhere.
Also switch to Duckstation much better and newer PS1 emulator.
