Why do you visit Ngemu forums ?

After considering the fact that so many people visit these forums, I was wondering what brings them here ? Emulation needs ? Fun stuff ? curiosity or emotional attachment ?
Personally I think I am so much attached to the forums that I cant live without it. Tried leaving this place 3-4 times but only to come back again.
So what's your opinion ?

anyway, I usually hang around in Game discussion....
...there is I guess, also something about the fact I've known this place for a long time, and met some nice folks here

Same here, the fact that I lost all contact with emulation back then when my PC sucked didn't help much my emu habit (which I have none anymore).

I kinda miss the old days when I was called names by admins, I'd flame Syed Fawads and Ninjas on DC / Sega related discussions, I'd drive Protos and Boltzmanns nuts by turning their points against them just because I am an ass and I'd make people believe Elly was indeed a chick... *sigh* but now I have risen to a new plane: pkill and killsteal on MMORPGs!!11!

Still remember my first attemps on psx emulation..BOF 3 and Castlevania: SOTN on psemu dos 0.31 or smth like that!
And i sill got that on cd...somewhere i think....

Ngemu is my home page, Emuforums the first page i visit every day...
Even if I like emulation, there's something more here... Don't know exactly what, but reading the forum makes me feel better...

As of regarding this topic, I too take a look here once in a while. Real life(tm) + lack of interest + frustration from repetitive topics isn't encouraging me to post and check the forums that much anymore.

Hey Kaiser

What ? No votes for PCSX2 section ? Where are all the <10 post noobies who only post in PCSX2 forums asking help with bios/roms/isos/releases/compatibility ?

On a serious note sometime ago I too felt that forums were dying and good old posters werent posting anymore but then I realised that most of them are more involved in real life but still they keep a watch here.

After that I managed to find some really nice new members and have been having lots of fun lately with guys like generalplot, refraction, saqib, rudy, bositman & others.

Kaiser, we need more people like you here these days. It seems that everyone who visits here lately is too responsible to walk the fine line between flaming admins and being banned.

As for why I visit the forums, initially it was a technical interest in emulation. I even tried writing an emulator at one point, although for various reasons that project is on extended hold ATM (school, lack of interest, other projects with more reasonable timeframes, etc.). The reason that I've kept coming back all this time though, is that I've never seen any other forum that tends to generate interesting discussions in as broad of topics as this one. Everything from copyright reform, to abortion, to the ocasional discussion on video games

is discussed here. I just wish the flaming and noobs hadn't become such a problem that "debate" has become a dirty word here.

Well at any rate, I'll still continue to visit this place as long as the average intelligence level stays well above that of certain other poor excuses for forums I've seen.

i came here because i follow emulation since im 13, i was always interested in this. I think its just a reflex too cuz this forum is real good and the topics are interesting. I came here to write stupid things when im drunk

I only flame the retarded folk. It really doesn't matter who they are or what position they hold. If somebody is annoying, stupid, pathetic, etc... I will tell it to them how it is.

I only visit this place now and then for casual amusement. Idiots can often be entertaining.

I think every member has a certain responsibility especially the 'veterans' such as you, or ones with a relatively high post count like myself. I don't consider myself a veteran, but I do know that whenever a n00b signs up he will look at the post count of someone and that will decide the amount of respect he has for another member whenever he will point him to the rules when it's needed.

A different set of stars isn't even needed for that, unless the smartass will reply with "You're no mod so why should I listen!1!11!!!". That's when the fun starts :evil:
