Sasami doesn't mean anything, afaik. It's just a common label for that specific kind of anime character.

Isn't it called the Mahou Shojou Syndrome? i.e., Sakura Kinomoto, Sasami in Magical Girl Pretty Sammy, Akazukin Cha Cha charas, Doremi in Oja Majo Doremi....all of whom wave magic wands/staffs and are sickeningly cute.

there's also the Rei Ayanami syndrome.

Magic girl syndrome? That is something slightly different. I'm talking about how certain Japanese find young (anime) girls attractive. That's what I've dubbed the "Sasami syndrome."
