Why are we weird?

For most people including myself a regular day goes somewhat like this Breakfast-> college-> work/play-> home for dinner :nod:

But why is it that because I know more about computers and programs that my friends say I'm weird? I mean in my small boring town the internet and photoshop are the two greatest things in life :lol:

I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about :thumb: dosnt bother me though because sooner or later the world will be ran by computers and everyone will have to use one!!!! :lol:

Well I bench 405 won a few competitons in taekwondo etc.. and also know alot about pc's. point? well the stereotype pushed me to doing those physical activites. I know what you mean and my advise is stereotypes are for the weak minded and the weaker at heart. Be yourself, be stupid, but be happy is my motto :eyemove:

I know exactly what you mean, living in this tiny villlage here.... But I'm not the kind of person to say that internet and photoshop are the greatest things in life

Sure the internet is nice if you've got nothing to do and it's a great place to kill some time, but RL is better.
But like you said... when you know more than average about computers, ppl look strange at you, but at the same time they call you when they are having problems

hmm, im not that weird in that I would be willing to walk away from all technology if I could choose a woman to live with the rest of my life and live in a log cabin secluded from all civilization.

lol that was a general statement on how boring it really is here, You cant compare it to RL :eyemove:

But damn it is boring here, I have seen soooo many movies it's not even funny.

I guess I classify myself as a geek, or even a nerd, but I do love Waterpolo, and all the other sports I play. But I do know more about computers than the average Joe.

Ya, I totally know what you mean Kiroshi. Without Photoshop and the Intenet have no idea what i'd be doing right now

My town is so small and boring too. Plus no one else shares the same interests as me :/

Yes man, that is exactly the same question that i was asking myself for a while time ago.
As most of you, I live in a small town. The life is boring here.....
A couple of years ago I was doing some sports like breakdance and taekwondo. I went out with my friends. We had a good time together (even in my small and boooooring town)...
But then my parents bought me a PC. I drawned in the computer world. My friends began to mean less for me. The only real friend for me was my PC.
That was really sad.... At that time I was really wierd (at least for my friends). But soon I sayed to myself: "Man you are wasting your life. Computer knowledge is good, but the real life is better. You should come out of your room to see your old friends. You must enjoy your real life..."
I did it! I turned off my PC and went out to meet my old friends. I found myself a pretty girlfriend... ah... the life is good!
My friends say that i am a cool guy now (untill I am speaking about computers

)

It's not weird, Its just majority of these people are still unaware that the digital age has already started.

and besides, Its them who'll be left out when that time arrives.

I find the majority of people to be weird, and a lionshare of these even idiotic and incompetent by my standards. That's because I compare people to my capabilities, intellect and interests, just as those who call you(?) weird compare to themselves.

I am not alone.
I am relieved that there are people facing the same kind of crap I face everyday.
Daily I hear these words:
-What, you are 21 and still playing games?
-What, you are 21 and still watch anime?
-Dude, you are talking on forums? Are you a loser?
And when I talk about pcs, peole look at me and say what you sayin'?
Man, I live in a boring country, with boring people.
You hear these word from other people, not everyday.
I can't go about my life without hearing these words from everyone.

lol same thing here. but i dont mind. i live two life... one with computers, games, programming and all that stuff. one completly apart from that. (i clal it my "sports" life but meh

) basicly i just have 2 bunch of people i hang with.

my friend is weird though. he's ashamed to tell people that he likes computers and programming fearing that the're gonna leave him aside and think of him as a geek. now thats what weird is......

LOL that's what I'm talking about. My friends dont care about pc's unless it's downloading music illegally

and it dosnt bother me cause I have forums and other places to talk about pc stuff.

Nobody askes me if I play games or watch anime... my family and friends know I like art so they dont question anything I do :lol: who do they think creates this stuff?! creative professionals!!

I define weird on an hourly basis ... what;s weird to one is normal to the other, ther is no standard for weird. But whats wrong about being weird ?
Doesn't that make you stand out ... doens't that make you unique ?
I'd rather be that then be a sort of her like creature like for instance a sheep...

But in today's society, It's usually safer to join the flock than to be diversed and become a nice target for criticisms.

I believe that the problem is in the society itself. Majority isolates those who aren't with their style or culture. If everyone would just accept others as who they are, then there would be no dilemma arising, but I guess that wont happen.
