Well 1001 is from a Us psx and 7502 is from a european one!

Well its not only these ones... its just that they are the one that have been tested and as such are recommended by the authors.

Maybe because of compatibility or the other BIOSes contain unemulated opcodes, I dunno really why though.

You can use any PSX BIOS you'd like, actually. The 1001 BIOS is the one recommended by the ePSXe authors, however, and it's what they test their emulator against. Of course, I'm making the assumption that you're speaking of ePSXe, in which case this thread probably doesn't belong here.

Oh yeah they also updated it when they added dual shock support to the system... and the original one (1000) didn't actually have any region protection.
