I think Doom 3 would make an excellent horror movie if done correctly and if it's long enough (3-4 hrs) IMO.

Somehow most if not all movies ripped from horror games: Resident Evil etc.. have stunk imho. Im not a director or anything but I agree with you totally that Doom 3 could make a good movie but also think that the directing for those movies is usually alittle "cheesy" to say the least. Spielberg should direct it lol :lol:

The new Doom movie is going to blow like a hooker in debt. It seems like the Hollywood money-making-liberty-takers have got their way. I won't give my opinion right now, there's plenty of angry Doom fanatics that can do that right now.
Resident Evil, Mortal Combat, Tomb Raider 1 & 2, Street Fighter, Double Dragon, and Super Mario Brothers all sucked. Simply because they treated it like an inferior license, took liberties, and streamlined it to make a movie that would sell.
Final Fantasy: Spirits Within did not however... and go figure.
IMO, Tetris would make a "blockbuster."

I think the only movie that did fine was the first mortal kombat...I think they did a rather well job with that one, all the others...well as said before sucked...They always try to put some corny lines in there, and just make it seem fake(They did this wtih The punisher if you were to talk about comics). The only game I would like to see as a movie would be something along the lines of Metal Gear..I think they COULD make it really cool.
Halo would be a good movie, but most game-to-film movies suck no matter what. They hire terrible actors and add loads of bad wrighting and for some reason they love adding CG that looks like CG!
I do have a feeling that if Hideo Kojima helps the director in the metal gear movie that it could just prove that the film industry can do it right

Mafia, Not that there haven't been alot of Mafia movies already
Half-Life 2 might do well as a movie if they added some actual plot and you didn't have to download it through Steam, but i wouldn't really want a HL movie.
Eternal Darkness, Scary as **** with an involving story.
None of the ones on your list appeal to me.

Oh yeah mafia would be cool even though I only got to the part where you had to steal the race car and didn't really play any more of it...I'm still trying to think of other ones...Maybe pacman...where no one plays their games anymore so packman has to get a job, but it isn't bring enough in so miss pacman has to start hoe'n for money, it wasn't fun, but yet the worse is still to come. "Pac'en in dah hoe" coming May 2005!

As already meantioned the DOOM movie is most likely going to be rubbish. Here's what's known thus far:
* The whole Hell concept has been dropped. You read that right. No demons, no portal to hell, etc. Basically no links to the games story line in any form.
* Well I lied. There's one, it's on mars.
* The pinky Demon is now a bloke in a wheelchair. No seriously.
* Rosamund Pike is to play the old cliched "screaming Blonde Female Astrophysist"
* Instead of demons from hell, we got a virus that mutates the bases inhabitants into flesh eating creatures..... now where have we heard that before.

Well, when I said that either Doom or Halo could be great movies, I meant just this: they could be. But Hollywood would never do them properly.
And Steven Spielberg sucks (Seriously, his movies are so childish...)
There were few movie directors who made good book-to-movie adaptations. Maybe those could do a good job with games too. It's too bad that they've died
One of those would be Stanley Kubrick, who is by far my favorite movie director. 2001: A Space Odyssey is just a masterpiece. Another director who also comes to my mind is Roman Polanski, who made a flawless conversion of Ira Levin's novel "Rosemary's Baby" to the big screens.

honestly any FPS would be a horrible movie imho. and who would think megaman would be a good movie after a couple of horrible anime series? That leaves Panzer and Bobble Bobble. Any one who considers Bobble Bobble needs to check their brains in 4ton hydrolic press. I can't really comment on Panzer since i never played it and never will if it stays xbox only. Really i think action games have a much higher chance of being good movies. As much as i hate the game, GTA might be a good movie. Ninja Gaiden might be a good movie. Resident evil has been proven to be a good movie....
