When will there be a PS2 emulator? since I love ePSXe, I hope there will be a ePS2e to come out. And yes, I have a PS2. I know its a lot to ask but, I just want to know if its possible if you can make it.

Thanks,

well....(how many times this question has been made?)
the ps2 is very hard to emulate man...
Since the psx isn t perfectly emulated, how would u make a ps2 emulator knowing it has some new effects, new chipset architecture, and it s*a bit* more powerful than the actual computer don t u think??

Well, i guess we should wait for at least 4 or 5 years to see the ps2 emulation become true

I think 4/5 years is a bit too much.
I think that the fisrt PS2 "emus" will come out during next year.
But,don't expect them to run games straight away,in their first releases, they'll only emulate a small part of the PS2 capacities, and will only run demos created for development purpose.
Then, maybe one or two emu will come out of the mass and they'll head toward real emulation(understand "playing games").
Of course all of this won't happen during one year.
It will take time before you're able to play PS2 games on your PC.
And of course, you'll need a top of the line computer to run them at full speed(I doubt that an Athlon/GeForce 3 computer could run them even at a decent speed(something like 35/40fps is a decent speed for me).

uhmmm the PS2 hardware is hard to emulate.... for example the EMOTION ENGINE *phew* maybe a next emulator to born will be an X-Box one.... after all the main cpu is a modified PIII and the Graphics Chip is a Nvidia One...

emulate a X box......
Well, it s a pc hardware, I think that it would be impossible to emulate it.

I mean that the games will be written w/ Direct X specifications (it s a microsoft console anyway).
So i think that Xbox won t be emulated....
Microsoft will port the gamezs on pc....

Umm, sorry rargh, I really don't follow your reasoning here. It seems to me that the closer the xbox is to a pc the easier it will be to emulate since there will be less research you actually have to do to learn about the hardware. And just because microsoft may port the games to the pc isn't a good reason not to emulate something! Not to mention I don't believe microsoft would do any porting whatsoever as it is up to the game companies and microsoft would probably actually prefer them to be more xbox exclusive so that people would feel more compelled to get an xbox than to say "oh, well let us wait for the pc port." Also I remember some comments from some companies being that it seems to be easier to target for a pc and port to the xbox than vice versa. Tata to you too!

I must admit that when i m reading my post again, i ve badly explained it (and written....craps? oh man!)

I meant that since it is a pc hardware typed one, I don t doubt that man can emulate it quite easily.
But the hardware we (most in fact) possess is way far from the Xbox one, the only graphic card who seem to handle it is a geforce 3, when i see the Polygons per sec. this console can provide...
Don t forget also that emulation take ressources (yeah, since u are using an OS, background programs, and at least trying to reproduce a P3 at 733 mhz w/ all the SSE and MMX instructions, awesome Nvidia chip based card and all the other stuff....)

So will my future athlon 1.33 ghz could handle it?
I m not sure....

Well for the Port on the pc, I can at least bet w/ u that MS will do it...
Money produces all
Money gives all

Heh ;)

Do you really believe the numbers given by MS?
Those aren't actual in-game numbers,it's just the number of polygons it can produce without any effects applied on it.
nVidia and all others cards manufactuers do the same thing when they say that a GeForce 2 can produce 25 million polygons per second,if games were really working with such a high number of polys, damn would they be beautiful!!!!

Geforce 2 series can run 25 Million Polygos per second (or something like that)..

The Problems is: todays Game Programmer wouldn't even bother of making characters/objects for their games with 25 Million Polygons. Except the upcoming Max Payne and Doom3 maybe. So that explains why PC games are growing so slowly, while the hardware grows so Fast...

Just because something has the potential to do something, doesn't mean that that potential is ever realized or used. I, too, have heard of the 25 million polygon capability of the Geforce 2 but I have never seen anything that uses it. About all it is good for is hype. To bad isn't it?

Actually, the GF2 "CAN" use 25 Mpolygons per second. Its hardware makes it possible.

Now , for a game or driver which can use full possibilities of it.
I guess the pc isn t as good as the mac for it...
Since pc isn t using same piece of hardware, it s pretty normal that
there are such a loss of capacities...As well as software, all the people are divised to gain compatibility w/ cards before performance!

homogenous.the pc's aren t like that and that s too bad.

I think the reason x-box would be easier to emulate than other consoles is because it is based on x86 instructions just like a PC where as playstation uses something else. So when trying to emulate a PS you have to translate everything into x86 before the PC can understand it. I think this is why it takes a much more powerful PC to emulate PS. This the best I can explain it based on other people's info that I've read so I may not be 100% correct.
