Are you sure? Seems like, if anything, people keep starting new ones DESPITE words to the contrary. Considering every other thread or so in off-topic is a poll, that's definitely getting in the territory of an abused feature.

We're not attacking this specific poll but rather the trend of polls over and over again. Gets really old really fast.
