cable from @home

I get 6mps to there servers (ex @home content)

and every were else I get 3-4mps this is all down

I use to get 1.5mps up but now its like 126kbps (only 2x faster then the 56kers) I can easly get ISO's but its a really pain to put them up.

so from a few sec to download anying program this site has to a few min to download the games to play with the emulators.

I hate the limits cause I want to share hehe.

mr2000jp,

1)your phone line is noisy.to verify this, pick up the phone and hear weather there is any cracking sound.solution:change your phone line
@
2) your isp is congested.change to another one if possible or dial during non-peak hours

What're getting there? 114KB/sec?

Thing is a lot of servers rarely allow transfer rates which are that high, a lot have throttle speeds set to a max of 50KB/sec or somesuch for a download or simply are too busy that the download speed isn't that high.

But then, i guess you just download more than one file at the same time from the server or segmented downloading on the same file.

Damn, now you've got me wanting to upgrade my ADSL connection to a faster one.

Currently using 56k (53.2 connect)... But the university owns the apartments i am in right now, and ASPSU (student gov't) just approved our building for LAN acess... The last one out of 19 appartment buildings (ours is the oldest - 100yrs).

But portland state university is the OIT hub for Washington, idaho, and of course oregon... So i suspect my connection will be atleast a T3 due to the mutiple fiber backbones into the unversity...
