I don't think they sold very well...
I'm not sure how well it sold on the XBOX, but I'd not hold my breath for part 3...
I have both on the Deacast 'er Dreamcast, but I found them to be mediocre...
The Shenmue series is probably my favorite series of all time. I rarely get into games but I got really immersed into this series. BTW, Shenmue Online in the link.

Shenmue Online... I still can't get pass how stupid the concept sounds.
heh, I just wonder... they didn't port it to PS2 because Microsoft bought license for it or what?
Yeah, as far as I know. I once read that they licensed SEGA completely (although it is hard to believe, because there are lots of good SEGA games for the others).
Is everyone else sick of every games having an MMO games?
It depends... Actually I can hardly imagine Shenmue as a MMO game, but that doesn't imply MMO games sucking in general. Think of PSO, for example. If it fits the main game's concept, why not?
I'm just sick of everyone making one. I'm sorry I'm not playing at least 10 bucks a month to play some game.
Me neither, so why bother?
I'm not saying I bother, but if there are going to be a good bit of these games out there, think of the money people are waisting. I just think through a internet provider there should be a plan or something if they keep going at this rate (and the console for...consoles). I just don't see why we need so many of them...I guess this doesn't really matter, I stay away from them anyhow.
It's kind of weird a lot of people make money on MMO's, if you put some effort in it $500 a month, is not an unreasonable amount.
You'll find that you spend way way way more time on an MMO then any other type of game. I've spend about 2 months total time in World of Warcraft. Its a good trade off for only about 2-3 hours pay for a hundred or more hours play each month? I hate to say it, but anyone who doesn't figure that a good deal has something wrong with them. You'll never get as much play, or fun for that matter, out of an offline game, I can guarantee you that.

Companies don't seem to release that most people only play 1 MMO full time at one time. So if they keep flooding the market with more and more of them the communities for each one (assuming the games coming out are actually good, otherwise it won't change anything) will just get smaller. It'll wreck the entire scene.
I really don't like the idea of most games series that i like on PC to be MMO
'cause i'm dominican and here (Dominican Republic) we don't have fast internet connections at a good price
that's why everytime i find it harder to get a good pc rpg game that isn't online and have to stick to console rpg games

man i would really like to play world of warcraft and final fantasy XI

good man, that's kinda what I wanted to get out too...

Also, did anyone else thing FF11 should have just been on its own? Like Final Fantasy Online I, and II type of thing. To me Final Fantasy is like a book, you just move the charator.

WDDG though is making slow progress, hardly makes up for the real thing. The servers are very shakey and only have 10-50 people online at one time... whereas the official servers have 500-2000+ at one time. Not to mention the WDDG people had tp recreate their own database from scratch so there are heaps of bugs and the instances don't even work.
"World Database Development Group", iirc.
These "emulation" servers that are out there. There's atleast one for almost every mmo. While, some have gone deep underground, mostly anything to do with (sony or Square), theres alot your losing with them. Your never getting the true updates from the games. The events, or some of better momments.

The l2 emulator that was out was horried. There was more crashed with it, then it was worth and when it was stable, you began to realize you arn't enjoy the true game world. The npc's had to have new written text, that was not really what they were suppose to say. I wanted the deep rich back-story to play ingame for roleplaying purposes.

I play FFXI online, as well as L2. L2 i pay maybe every 2-3 months and play for a month to break up a slow month on FFXI. I love FFXI for it's deep storyline, cinematics, fun events, good comradery from my Linkshell. While, I love L2 for it's graphics and PVP.

MMO's allows for some of us to actually role-play. Paying 10 bucks a month which is like said earlier 2 hours of work, isn't that bad for me, for the now (listed directly from the game) 50days, 3 hours, 22minutes, I have played of FFXI in game. (this is actual count log).

Not too many other games have I put that much time into.

Anyways on topic now.

Shenmue ..

i suggest going to the shenmue dojo..which is here..

from what is to be understood. The creator of Shenmue did not like the technology of the ps2. Instead he opted for the xbox. Sadly, the Shenmue 2 did not sell as well here, and niether did it overseas due to the already release of it on the DC. There was a movie compiled from the cutscenes in the game and released in movie theaters in japan. It did not do comercially well either.

Shenmue 3 wasn't pulling in the buz, so they opted for a MMO style game. It was not shown at this year's E3 due to poor respone from the creator on the inital look of the game. It is suppose to be in redesign.
