Living in a 3rd world country is even worse in many cases. The prices here are really extorsive when it comes to computer parts.
Even with the high exchange rates, directly importing from the states is usually a cheaper option than buying on the local shops. But the downside of directly importing are the taxes on imports, which amount to 60% of the product's price. So the cheaper option is to import directly from the States and find a way too fool the Customs somehow (a.k.a. smuggling).
