weird FF8 bug......maybe......

Well I started playing this game again for the 4th time through on the new epsxe 1.4...... The problem that I have is, when I return from the fire cave with Quistis(close to the beginning)...... I enter the Garden, then Squall and Quistis runs into the screen..... As soon as I press up or any other direction, game starts to load the world map again..... I just came from the world map and tried to enter the garden but every time I enter the garden and they both enter the screen of the garden's front gate and I try to move, I exit the garden...what is goin on..... I believe I did get past this in epsxe 1.2..... weird bug....... I have tried all directions but it still does the same thing over and over...I have also tried playing with the keyboard, gamepad, and mouse but all do the same thing.... Can anyone help me? I am playing the ntsc version of FF8.. my configs are here......4X FSAA
