Watching movies off of a playstation game

Ok, so I've made an image of Final Fantasy 9, so I don't have to ever worry about scratching up the disc, and I've begun playing through it. I decided I wanted to look at the files on the disc (movies, images, etc.), and so I started searching the internet. I came across this page: Playstation Utilities - Zophar's Domain and decided to try some things out. Im having a lot of trouble. With PSicture, I finally managed to pull the image files off of the .img file from the game. However, the .str files (the movies), Im not having much luck with. PSXTulz is the only one that doesn't fail outright, but most of the movies are covered with green. The other ones either won't work, or can't seem to figure out what a .str is, even though thats what they're supposed to do. Most of the programs ***** about missing wnaspi32.dll, which is the ASPI layer dll, but its for a 32 bit system, and im running 64 bit vista. Ive tried, it will not let me install the dll, and just dropping it in the proper folder doesn't seem to be helping. Im guessing the green that PSXTulz is getting is some sort of protection, but I thought thats what these programs are supposed to do. I know I've read about other people managing to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PSX Movie Converter, does it all.

It doesn't seem to want to work for me. On the drive tab, it brings up my DVD drive (though it won't bring up any virtual drives), but when I hit the open and analyze button, it says "Unable to read TOC from CD-ROM". Is it because its a DVD drive perhaps?

If I just hit open, and go to a .str that I pulled out of the .bin, it says "Plugin which can process [filepath\filename] is undetectable. But under the plugins page, it definitely has .str, not to mention a ff9 plugin. :hdbash:
no, its because the TOC is invalid. :\

Erm...not to sound like an idiot, but what exactly is the TOC?
its a table in the first few bytes of a disk which lays out the location of everything on the disk, usually such errors occur if you don't rip the disk properly.

Ive even tried the actual disc, and had it do that.
Rip your CD (preferably bin/cue or ccd/img).

Try downloading this tool CDMage 1.02
http://forums.ngemu.com/attachments...976810-disc-combining-kits-cdmage1-02-1b5.rar

Open your disc (select M2/2352 if asked about format).
Browse to movies, select and right-click + extract files.

Use PsxMC to 'open' these files and play the movie.

Tested with Grandia scenes.

bah. still getting all sorts of problems. Im guessing it's cuz im on a 64 bit system, perhaps, though im not really sure. It gives me that TOC message no matter what game is in the drive, still gives me the plugin is undetectable message, even after using that utility to extract the movies. Those movies show up the same way in pxxtulz as did the others, working sound, partially working video, but lots of green. hmm.
change the drive interface settings for psxmc to ioctl.
I don't see that option anywhere, where is it? I attached a pic of the 'drive options' window. This is frustrating, thank you guys for all the help.
nvm, it already is (SPT1 is ioctl)

you could try installing adaptecs aspi?

Im on a 64-bit OS. I tried, but anywhere I found wouldn't let me because of that. I tried just dropping the wnaspi32.dll file into the correct system folder(s), but to no avail.
yeah the adaptec version requires an the driver.

if you can find the nero version of the wnaspi32.dll, that will work regardless of the os version.

Ok, I give up. I downloaded a trial version of Nero. Then downloaded the wnaspi32.dll from there site, since the trial didnt install it. I dropped it into the folder, it didnt help. I again tried getting adaptec's aspi, got it downloaded. Apparently you have to use a command line to install it. It kept saying it could not make modifications to the registry, and failing. Im just gonna go back to playing the game. I know there's places I can DL the movies I want. I just wanted to extract 'em myself. And with PSicture, I was able to get to uncorrupted/unprotected images after I pulled them out with cdmage. Whatever. Thank you so much for all of your help, and Im sorry you wasted your time.
i'll be on win 7 x64 soon enough, i'll get it working.
