Voodoo 5 5500 AGP

Fivefeet8 I just got my voodoo 5 today. Its an AGP of course. But then after I opened up my computer and looked inside I found out that the agp slot was some what weird looking. The slot was seperated into 2. When I try to put in the Voodoo 5 AGP one of the sticks in middle of the agp slot blocks it. Can I do something about this? Or do I need a new motherboard??? Please help me. I dont know what to do.

You mean it doesn't fit in your agp slot? If it does then try it out first and see if it will work..
This is a pic of my geforce 2 mx 400. There is a piece of block that fits directly into the 2nd opening on the cards agp connector
Here is a picture of my voodoo 5 agp. It has a opening in the middle of the agp connector but the piece of block on my motherboards agp slot blocks it from getting into it. The block directly blocks the 2nd part of the agp connector the one in larger lenght.
The gefoce 2 mx 400's agp connector is different from the voodoo 5 5500 agp's agp connector. The geforce 2 mx 400 fits into mine perfectly but the voodoo 5 5500 agp doesnt.
Here is an another pic of my voodoo 5 and geforce 2.
That is weird.. My voodoo 5 fits perfectly in my agp slot.. What's your mobo? I have a abit kt7a raid mobo.. The agp slot is smaller than the pci slots.. It fits the voodoo 5 perfectly and doesn't past the second slit(larger one).. Shot me a pic of your agp slot..
The agp slot blocks my Voodoo 5 from getting in. :p Any more help fivefeet8?
That's really weird... you'd think AGP slots would be standard. I suggest you just return it (assuming you can) and switch it for something else. The only other think you could do would be to get a new mobo, as I'm pretty sure AGP slots can't be separated from the mobo ;)
NOOOOOOOOO!!! NEVER!!! :) I dont want to return my voodoo 5. I like it more then my geforce 2. Any other way to fix this? Cause My motherboard is huge. Argh...
Here.
Its a Compaq Presario 7000
Pentium 4 1.3ghz
128mb rdram
geforce 2 mx 400
sound blaste live

I dont know what to do. The agp slot has a f****** block in it that blocks my voodoo 5 from fittin in. :(
I dont know what kind of mobo I have. The block in the mobos agp slot blocks the 2nd slit on the voodoo 5. Right in the middle. Can I just break the block off the agp slot and just shove my voodoo in? :)

Well theres your problem.
Tom_E... Did your geforce2 mx 400 come with your COmpaq presario? Compaq is known to make unstandard parts and cases with their computers.. I built my own computer.. Compaq sucks.. I use to have a compaq system too.. Then when I wanted to upgrade the motherboard to upgrade the cpu, I couldn't.. The compaq cases are made weird and aren't able to fit all types of mobos.. I think compaq made your agp slot not standard.. Do you know what type of motherboard they gave you with that system?
Common knowledge that Compaq sucks... if you want a good OEM PC, go with Dell or Alienware/Falcon NW if you've got the cash. I think you're screwed, buddy. Go to Best Buy or somethin and get your mobo switched out, then go torch a Compaq office ;)
Yes the Geforce 2 mx 400 came with my Compaq presario. I guess I solved my problem.
"Compaq sucks"
What If I take it into the repair shop and ask them to install it for me?

I highly doubt there's anything they could do with it.... I'd say replace the MoBo... but then again, if Compaq made the AGP slot not standard, they probably did something to the case to make it not standard as well (I hope not though, but you never know)
Would it work if I break the piece of block in the agp slot?
Or Do I take it to a store and ask them to replace my mobo so I can use my voodoo?

You could ask them if they could install a standard 4x agp slot for you instead of that compaq agp slot..

Like I said above.. I use to have a compaq system.. Went to a computer show and ask one of the motherboard dealers if I could change my motherboard in my compaq system.. He said.. nope.. compaq cases are made different than normal computer cases.. Most standard motherboards wont fit..

I will say it again..

Compaq Sucks!!!:laser: :rockets: :mg: :fingers: :dead:
If its not standar Im going to break the little piece of block that makes me go crazy and shove my voodoo in and if it doesnt work im going to bomb compaqs office and break my monitor and throw away my compaq. :)
