I know the VM version has pretty much always had memory allocation problems but it seems to be getting worse in latest revisions. For example I can run playground version 485 fine but when I try to run the 555 (newest revision) exe I get the error. Resetting the computer no longer fixes the problem. The exe won't start half the time, but other times it will. Seems completely random. Is there a way to fix this problem? It would be great if someone could find the root cause of it, and fix it once and for all.

In case anyone was wondering, I'm running Vista x64.

Oh, and in case someone wants to make some smart reply like 'just use the VTLB version', it's buggier and crashes in more games, so I'd rather use the VM.

i got that problem too before in vista 64.
i dunno if it'll solve ur problem but i use software vista manager or MzVistaForce to disable some of vista services. and the VM version just works.
i think it might be the windows defender service.

its the superfetch service actually. as well as the fact Vista uses memory virtualization.
