My computer jusat messed up. I was viewing the forums when all of a sudden my screen screwed up it started looking like a TV with no aerial in it (all fuzzy). I hard reseted my system and it seems ok now im backing up data then U'm gonna find a virus checker since i dont have one yet.

I wouldnt think a monitor should ever have a display like that even if the card is busted so do you think this is a problem with my graphics card of my monitor or a virus

actually, what kinda fuzzy was it? did it sorta just go like a fuxed up TV where you got slanted lines moving up and down? thats when you know ur monitor is going out.

IF u can capture the fuzziness in a screenshot, then its definietly not the monitor.

no it wasnt just lines when I said fuzzy I meant the entire screen was unusable because it was entirely covered in blue/green/white dots flitting about the screen

You can try what D.D. said. Take a screenshot ( PrintScreen key + Paint )
If it clear it would be hardware problem ( monitor or graphic card )
If not, maybe a virus ??

Dots on the screen? That was the first symptom of my Voodoo 3's RAMDAC blowing.

Well i had those signs of that fuzzy ness when my old monitor was dying and it eventually went out a few weeks later, may also be because of video card since i had those green dots which i suspected was from the card and i was right,if your comp has integrated gfx take out the agp or pci card and then see if that will happen again.

it does but since the problem hasnt occured again (yet) I dont think it would really prove anything. I forgot to mention though, last week my monitor went completely blank as if it were turned off however it was not as the LED was still on and not blinking like it does when it is on standbye. that also souns like a monitor problem but could also be the graphics card so I dunno

actually that would be a monitor problem,it is probably on it's way out but be on the lookout if it makes a tiny click sound cause then you will know the monitor is about to die.

actually, i do beleive its the video card that is at fault. when i had my 9200SE it did that once. i put too much stress on the card (that crappy thing only had a small heatsink...no fan)
closed the pc, let it cool off and it was fine after

I dunno who to believe :( my graphics card (saphire 9600) has no fan either so that could be the problem but then again my monitor does make clicking sounds now and then but it has done this since i got it a year ago :/

try another video card in your computer to test to see if its the montior. if not then your video card will be seeing the light soon.

Also if your video card is getting too hot it will do that too. try putting like house fan blowing on it temp. or get a another HSF for your video card.

Either your graphics card is overheating, your monitor is going, or your Graphics card has something else wrong with it. It's most likely one of those things.
