Hi all,

I would like input on this idea. I was thinking of creating an archive of video game promo posters scanned and cleaned up, ready to be printed at their original size be it A4, A2, A1 etc...

I don't know if this would be acceptable and would like some input.

The rules would be...

1. Genuine promo posters only --the kind they display in stores and are printed only at the time of the game premiere.

2. Posters have to be scanned and cleaned up ready to be printed at their native size (eg: an A2 poster would be scanned at and set at a perfect size to print off a replica A2 poster).

3. Poster must not be available to purchase anymore by normal means.

4. Site would be private and user would have to upload a suitable poster in order to enter. No freeloaders.

I myself have a few in-store posters like GTA4, Final Fantasy: Crisis Core, Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles, Prince of Persia, World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

I got the idea when I received my Crisis Core and Castlevania posters. They arrived in crap ass condition so I took them to a pro copymat and got them scanned so I could clean them up and reprint them.

Please let me know.

For #3, define "normal means".
Forget #4. It's not like you're going to have that high demand. Sharing is caring.

To clarify #3 -- Any in-store promotional poster that is no longer in wide circulation, as in, it can't be obtained any longer from a game store and the likelyhood of it appearing on eBay is slim to none.

Promo posters which are still being printed such as many by Rockstar Games would be a big no-no as they are still a source of profit.

To clarify #4 -- Yeah, it could be an open project but I worry about people not contributing. I would love to start a huge archive but it won't work if nobody bothers helping out and just leeches the entire time.

You could always just supply them until you get a Cease & Desist email.

I wouldn't worry about leechers until bandwidth becomes an issue (if it ever does). I understand what you're saying, but people do seem to have a natural tendency to supply stuff on the internet if they have them. I've seen many game manual and game cover sites, and they're all open project, and have many people donating scans.
