uhhh

Okay.....
can anyone recommend anything other than geforce2?
cuz i am in real need of good graphics.

To tell the truth i'm a little picky about the graphics of my games.

I know Geforce2 is an OK video card. But seriously. I need an all time, top grade, Spectacular......(you get the picture) Video card.
something like VooDoo 5 or the like. As long as it's good and it'll work with epsxe.
hence the term "Upgrade"
I'm kinda content with the rest. (though i could use an optical mouse ;) )

Specs:
Athlon T-bird 900
128 ram
Abit motherboard(can't remember the model)
17" sansung monitor
56k modem(Soon to be cable if all goes well)
built in soundcard(thinking of getting a new one too) ;)
Asus 50x cd-rom
anything else?
Oh yes. Geforce2 MX

Someone already did. Namely, the GeForce 3 ;) Truthfully I haven't any idea just why you have a problem with your MX, but if you're looking for something that isn't built by nVidia, perhaps you could consider a Radeon by ATI or (though I haven't used one myself) a Kyro II.

If u can find one I would recommend a radeon 64 ddr vivo SE version.
Not many people know of this card and it really is good from what I've heard (and seeing as its the same as mine but faster clock speed/memory I well belive it).
The difference between the SE version and the normal retail or oem versions of the radeon are as follows=
Oem version=163mhz/163mhz(ddr) 6ns mem
Retail version=183/183(ddr) 5.5ns mem
SE version=200/200(ddr) 5ns mem
These cards overclock no problems, mines running fine at 203/203 so I cant see why the se wouldnt go to 230/230+ as ppl in rage3d's forums have stated that they have experianced with their se cards.
People (g-force owners) will probably slate the radeon saying the drivers are terrible but I have had no problems with it at all and would recomend it to my friends.
But its your decision and theres plenty of good cards out there at the moment,I would personally wait if u want a big performance increase and see what the new radeon2 is like or untill g3 prices drop a bit...

just a thought

could it be, your ram's not enough? I used to have 128mb as well. added 256mb recently (they're really cheap now) and it does have a signficant improvement on frame rate.

i know you're looking for a better picture, but if you're lowering your settings (like resolution) to get a better frame rate, perhaps more ram is a better alternative.

GAWD, a Voodoo? EWWW!
Geese, you MUST be picky. To me a "Good Enough" card would be the one nVidia include's in it's new motherboard chipsets, and a high-end one being an MX. Geforce 2 is the way to go, man. Whatever you're doing to slow it down could be a system issue. Hell is this old S3 Stealth S540 card runs barely good enough on my system, your card would work miracles.
;) Ya'll are spoiled.

Seems you really want to upgrade..... Your geforce2 mx should be more than powerful enough to run epsxe...... Maybe you have a system problem(built in sound card)....... Or maybe you got the geforce2 mx sdr ram instead of the ddr ram version....... Either case, I would wait for the geforce 3 to lower price or wait for the next graphics cards coming out from both nvidia and Ati..... Personnally, I got a voodoo 5 5500 agp and it runs great on epsxe....... Glide is the best on this card(speed and quality of graphics are excellent for epsxe)........ Needless to say, I am pretty happy with it at the moment..... I think you need to be happy with what you got too.... It will make it less painful to just wait for the next best thing....... Or if you got the cash buy

voodoo 5 5500 pci
geforce3 or geforce2 ultra(they are pretty much the same pricepoint)

and slap em both into your comp..... Maybe I should try that.. hmm.......

Overclock!

Heh. Here's a good solution:

O-V-E-R-C-L-O-C-K!

Make that card burn, baby! =)

My card? It's a:

GeForce 256 32 DD-RAM o/c'ed @ 170 MHz/220 MHz

And you've got a GeForce 2 MX? Overclock it baby! Save money! But be careful, one false move, or if you bend a chip and you just wasted US$190.00. Heh.
