Vagrant Story 2nd Wyvern crash workaround

It appears that the game won't crash if you kill the first Wyvern in the intro.
I had the crash (having previously skipped the intro), then started from scratch, waxed the first Wyvern, died, loaded from memcard, went to second Wyvern and it worked fine.
