Using remote control with windows

My tv tuner card has a remote control. I have downloaded 3 different programs that enable it to be used with programs as wmp, winamp or Powerdvd: Girder, Slycontrol and Uice. The last 2 seem to be the best ones. Uice detected properly all my buttons once but i had to format my hd before configuring it and it never worked properly again. Slycontrol detects all my buttons but i don't know how to use it and there are no guides in the internet as far as i know.

Any suggestions? Are there other programs or guides?
