Hello,

in these days I am useing Suse linux 9.2, and i checked out the official ATI linux drivers, and they simply SUCKS, and even they have litte script to find out then this X.org or Freex86 thing (i don't really remember) and it didnt works...so
right now ati drivers have no 3d (only 2d) support for linux, so my Q is it there any unofficial ATI radeon 9800 pro 3d drivers for linux?

ps:in linux area, i must say that Nvidia rocks....

The only 3D card drivers for ATi Cards greater than Radeon 9200 are the official ATi Linux drivers. For Radeon 9200 and less, there is the open source DRI drivers, which are decent, but ATi's are still better. The reason for this is ATi released documentation on the chips for 9200 and earlier, but won't release documentation for the new stuff (with understandability).

However, ATi recently announced a release schedule that matches the window driver release schedule. They plan to improve their support for Linux. So hopefully we'll see something come out of it. (I'm an owner of a Radeon 9600)

Well i thing its time to change to nvidia.. coz ati's drivers sucks on other platform than windows, even in windows, i think Nvidia is more stable..., ATI's support for linux is very poor and Now I heard the new Looking Glass project by sun has problems with ATI Drivers......

anyway these ATI drivers destroyed my linux 2 times, so iam not gonna install them this time with linux Suse
