Hello everyone, this is my first post so I hope I don't break any of the rules...I browsed through them so yeah. Anyway, awhile back I went through the trouble getting the BIOS file so I could try out PS2 emulation. I'm using SCPH39001 (USA v01.60 07/02/2002 Console), have a good speed computer and figured PS2 Emulation might be a cool thing. After doing a little research I saw that PCSX2 is currently the top of the line emulator so of course I downloaded it to try it out.
I have a P4 3.46 EE processor, 4gb ram, ATI Radeon 800XT, Audigy 2 ZS, running on XP Pro SP2. I have a Pioneer DVD-RW and a Sony DVD-ROM. Anyway onto my problem, after doing some simple configuring and not really touching much I put .hack Mutation (Original copy) in just to see how it looks. The PS2 boot screen loaded, asked me to input time zone information and such...after I did that it went to the screen with Browser and System Configuration as the choices, going into Browser I saw the 2 Memory Cards and that was all. That was with Linuzappz Iso CDVD Driver 0.5, I toyed around with some settings...clicked Compress Iso and Decompress Iso a couple times but they don't seem to do anything, did Enable Block Dump...that just created a rather large file in the PCSX2 folder. I thought maybe I selected the wrong file where it says Select Iso...I tried just about every file on the DVD and none would load anything.
After that wasn't working I switched over to P.E.Op.S. CDVD Driver 1.2, and toyed around with settings in here as well but it won't even load the PS2 boot screen, it sounded like it was loading the DVD, but even after letting it go for 10 minutes nothing ever appeared. I thought maybe since emulation isn't perfect I'd try a few other games...I tried All-Star Baseball 2002, Shin Megami Tensei, Disgaea, and Star Ocean...all with no luck, I had a backup copy of Disgaea as well, tried that but again no luck. I'm a complete noob when it comes to emulation, so I'm hoping someone will read this and go "OMG, of course it wasn't working, you were doing *insert problem here*". Please help me out, this seems like a great program that I'd love to be using! Thanks a lot
Edit: I tried using the original version first with no success, then realizing I'm able to use the SS2 version I got that, but the same problem on both.
