if you want kde and want debian go for Sidux, as it is debian sid with extra scripts for usability and stability. It is rock solid, simple, and fastI'm downloading it.

Debian automatically converted my windows partition during installation to a dynamic drive... Good thing it was my media drive; though. Ditto except for OO sucking. My mom has worked for tax companies using Microsoft Office for years and open office is like a godsend to her.open office sucks and its still the best for Linux, but apart from that i don't see why the average user doesn't use ubuntu.
