I have two question that have nothing to do with each other, but I thought I would ask anyway.

1. I have a zipped up file that I password protected with winrar. I cannot for the life of me remember the password, is there any fast solution to this?

2. I just got my shiny new Benq dvd burner, and I wanted to know if it was possible to burn different encoded moves (avi, mpeg, mov, etc) onto one disc and view them on a dvd player. You know like game trailers and such. Or would I have to convert them or something.

For question 2, you have to convert all of them to either MPEG I (VCD) or MPEG II (DVD) format if you want to view them on a dvd player.

Use something like virtual dub or tmpgenc for avi (that includes divx, xvid, etc) and mpg files.

For mov you can use tmpgenc as well.

I think the only way to get the password is by brute force oO So there is no fast solution.

Question 1: There are some proggies that search for the password but unless you have a clue on what the password is you are basicly screwed.

Question 2: Roxio Easy CD&DVD Creator 6 allows you to create DVD Movie discs from most kind of media there is a program in the package in wich you just chose the files they get automaticaly converted and burned in the DVD.

I also think, that the only way to get rar password is brute force... or, try to get it from your dark side of memory/brain

as for dvd player, check if yours support DivX and Xvid, if it does, than you'll have less work with convertion (BTW it takes time, big ammount of time to convert movie)

The new nero is also good since the new one can now create cd and dvd...

as for the first question, have you tried using alternative compression software that can open .rar format? maybe you should try to look into it...

Ok cool thanks for the info guys, i guess i'm just screwed with that .rar, oh well. Anyway one more question.

What is an .mds or .mdf file and what can I use to burn it to a cd? I know alcohol will do it, but it gives me a write error every time, not sure what to do.
