hello everyone, when i'm doing homework and stuff and i can't listen to itunes because i got FFT theme song in the background, it really gets annoying. Anyone know a hot key that will mute the emulators music and when i want to play again i can just unmute it? Im using ePSXe for playstation 1. Thanks.

There isn't a hot key to disable/enable sound during emulation. The closest thing to that would be Escape, which pauses emulation completely, which you should do if you're doing homework :p.

Edit: This is also in the wrong section (should be in ePSXe discussion/Generic queries).

holy crap where did you get it?? im using ePSXe for windows...PSX emulation on PSX...now that is inventive.

anyway, on a serious note...

....why dont you just turn off your speakers?

and your story makes no sense. you cant do your hw because the FFT song is going...doesnt that mean you are playing FFT? how do you do hw and play games at the same time? maybe the problem is that you're playing FFT too much and that's why you cant do hw! if you want to play FFT, then leave it alone for a while to do something else and come back, you can always press escape to exit to the GUI and then go to Run-->Continue when you want to go back.

From what I understand, he wants to listen to his itunes while playing FFT. :p Yes, pausing the game with ESC will help.
hah thank you everyone!! I'm new to this emulation business, so don't mind my LAWLERSPAGHETTI with weaksauce. <--look at that little bugger dance. You can't stop this.

why dont you just turn off your speakers?
If i did this, I wouldn't be able to enjoy my whorish music. Then what would I do? A whole lot of nothing, infact the suck would increase expoentially. :agree:

so yeah, then press escape. if your situation is that you are trying to play FFT then stop and do HW and listen to music, then that solves it.

if you are just giving us some BS reasons and what you really want is to spontaneously stop and start sound output in the middle of a game, then ill tell you now, you cant do it.

Ahh, thanks hushypushy, and no it was just the simple fact that i wanted to stop playing, and take a break and do hw and listen to music as well. It works quite well, i'm very unproductive i've found if I keep FFT up while trying to do hw and listen to music, it just doesn't work out. Calc III and FFT doens't mix. They are definatley polarizing and creating a small electric field of suck inside them.

...you think as I do

I had to create an account just to post on this thread with you all.

I found this thread for the same reason as the thread creator had created it; I want to play FFT with the music off. I can understand how someone could play FFT while doing homework quite easily; you can set all the Player Characters to Auto-Battle (I usually make them all protect the healer) and then do homework as they fight. I do this quite a lot because sometimes I just want to watch a damn cool fight as FFT was one of the most awesome games from the PSX library.

Playing on ePSXe allows us to stop limiting the frames, which makes the fights, which can take anywhere from thirty minutes to more than an hour, go by in a matter of minutes. Usually, I'm not advancing the plot but rather, just grinding some more Job Points to buy something I want before the plot thins.

I agree that we should have a hotkey to disable some, or all, of the sound(s) while playing games on ePSXe. FFT would be neat with my own musical score playing in the background; not that the original music isn't fitting in most scenes but it does become redundant after hearing it for so many years.

Bump This

Yes, we're aware that you can mute individual applications with Windows 7, but that doesn't actually resolve the issue. The issue is to mute the MUSIC and nothing else. Anyone can mute or disable sounds, especially someone who's smart enough to get ePSXe to work in the first place.

Sorry about your bumping problem, it's not my fault that posting on a thread from 2005 makes the thread go to the top of your life again. Of course, you can configure your little bulletin board world not to do that if you want. Until then, your self-imposed obligations in life will continue to take presedence as your pride will no doubt force you to reply to me again. Me though, I'll probably never log in here again and thus you won't exist to me. I hate forum moderators, and people, who care more about where a thread is than they do the people who want to contribute to a simple online conversation, and the topic itself.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today, non?

Sorry if I didn't get the answer 100% correct. But I assure you there's no pride or arrogance involved with my first statement. I was just politely informing you. If you decide not to log in after such a reply, then I don't have anything else to say to an attitude like that. Sorry you feel that way. :(

Um yeah, take your crappy attitude elsewhere. There was nothing wrong with Dax's post.

Anywho, this thread has run its course, everything that needs to be said has been done so already. Closing.
