Thousand Arms Problems (*possible spoilers*)

I started playing it with ePSXe 1.5.2, although when I get to the scene where Jyabil tells Schmidt to go look in some mirror when he demands to learn secret arts, I don't get the option to advance the text, even though I can still pause the game.

When I try playing it with version 1.6.0, I can get as far as the scene where Schmidt is talking with the glowing dude, where it freezes up.

Anyone else have similar problems? If so, I'd like some solutions, if possible. By the way, I've tried switching plugins, though I still get these problems. Thanks.
