The worst story ever for a video game

After reading the other thread about worst 20 VG. I decided to add this thread

Don't just add games with Zero story. Talk about games with long boring stupid long boring stupid stories ever. Stories that made you have nightmares and didn't allow you to sleep. Stories that changed your life to worse.

1) I know some of you wouldn't accept this but, "Final Fantasy V" had one of the worst (not the word I'm thinking of) ...... Crappy, story topics.

Scene 1
Butz : Oh my God. Exdeath is gonna destroy our world.
Lenna : No. I can't believe it (/faints)
Faris : Hey don't die my dragon brother (I wonder how can you consider a swiming dragon with a very annoying sound a brother  )
Galuf : Who's Exdeath? I can't remember anything :p .
Silence for 3 seconds before...... That stupid music that plays in every part in the whole game, I even think it was to just tease me. And then.....
Butz : But still there is hope (/plays the serious role)
Lenna : Yes, our friendship will kick Exdeath's @*s
Faris : Hope is ...... and we will defeat Exdeath with our ........ (To the rest of blah blah)

Scene 2
Some music playing resembling confusion.
Butz : Oh my.....
Faris : Beautifull
The two just stare at the sleeping pixels resembling Faris.
Lenna : What's with you guys ?
Guys : ..............
What the ? Can't they tell Faris is a girl through all their journey but only when she sleeps :p ? I mean with all the fighting, jumping and action didn't they suspect her ?! Whatever....

Scene 3
ExDeath : Nyahaha  . You can't defeat the crystals and if you do you are dead anyway
Cara : NOOOOO Grandpa.
Exdeath just traps Cara in somekind of.... I really don't know what's that so plz help me :p .
Galuf : Cara ....
Galuf takes some of the spinach he bought earlier from the super market err.. Item store, just like Mr. Popeye told him (Anyway old men like to chat together when they aren't making VG or cartoons :p ) . Now you should feel sorry for Exdeath.
Exdeath : Take this .
Slash Slash.
Galuf : Damn, you are so huge for me. It's not fair Mr.Hironubi. I'm supposed to be one of the heroes here
Exdeath : Super Duper ice magic.
Woosh Woosh.
Galuf : Grr.
Exdeath : Hey? isn't your maximum HP 9999 ?! I've already exceeded it awhile ago.
Galuf : I don't know.
Hironubi : WRONG. #@[email protected]^#$
Galuf : I mean. It's my strong friendship and hope that will destroy you. My great determinantce to resist you is far stronger than your attacks.
Exdeath : NOOOOOOO. It can't be. I'll run away now. But don't forget to meet me at the end of the game. you know the place, just before the credits ;) . Deal ?
Exdeath mysteriously vanishes like that "Boof" .

I'll be adding the rest later I guess. /goes to sleep ^^

I never got all the way through it, but a game called Shadow Madness. It's story line was in every way anything but dynamic. The characters were more shallow than anything, not to mention the horrible battle system, character management, sound, and graphics. It was just another RPG that was just... bad in every way.

But you're asking of the storyline. Well, there was one, but it was as plain and boring as can possibly be.
Tony Hawk Underground in Story Mode

"The guards are tough, but I heard they like hot steaming nuts."
- 'Manhattan Local', expressing some of the game's highbrow humor.
ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!!! Oh no wait, that one was very entertaining.
I agree with cloudvii. I have finished all FF series except FFV.
Well yes Tony one was really a test for how much will you be able to stand before you hit the reset button :p .

2) Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. The difference between this and FFV is that I was expecting it to have a bad story, unlike FFV which gamers were angry for not getting a US release at that time.

The character design is really unquestionably the most ZERO-Personality I've ever seen. Every single character wannabe there is screaming : "I'm a baddie" .
The story starts with a castle that is about to be destroyed by some evil King called.... Yes you are right a very innovative name indeed "The dark King" . And now you have to play with Mr.No name hero whose parents died long ago just before giving him a name (unlike the lucky Dark king whose parents were gnerous enough :p ) . But that's not a problem since you (player) can give him a name and when we think it's supposed to be the happy ending, it's not. It's the nightmare beginning....

Some kind of Wise/Mage thingy : X, you are the chosen one. You have to destroy the evil king.
I wonder if that thingy was a Star Wars fan  . And btw "X" is your hero :p .
That same kind of wise/mage thingy : But first why don' you beat that Behemoth for me ^^" . It's smell is terrible.

3) Mog's mini game in Final Fantasy Vii. I can't even describe how horrible that is. You should play it by yourself to understand why.

** Now enough inserting games from Square :p .

4) Will post later ^_6

all those things were pretty stupid alright, but if you HAVE to stay in the FF-world then dont forget to mention FFX-II.
One game i played pretty recently that had a really bad story was Suikoden IV, the game was by far the worst in the series and the story was really dull and boring, the bad guy was really really lame. The game had basiclly no character development at all and you knew as much about the hero when you started playing the game as you knew about him when you finnished it.

makes totally sense to me :p

My least favourite (regarding story): Jak and Daxter - The Precursor Legacy.

The overall story:

Jak: Watch out for that pool of dark Eco.
Daxter: Oh no, I fell in! What are we gonna do about this?!?
Jak: Let's ask the Green Sage what to do.
Green Sage: My friend, the Blue Sage might know what to do, but I haven't heard anything from him for a while. And he shut off his warp gate. Find him.
Jak: Yeah! We made it across that lava valley, but the Blue Sage isn't there.
Green Sage: Then let's find the Red Sage.
Jak: We made it through that mine, but the Red Sage isn't here!
Green Sage: Let's find the White Sage [I think, that was his name...].
Jak: We made it through another valley of lava, but the White Sage isn't here.
Green Sage: Oh no! The evil forces are here!
Big Evil: Bwahahahaha! We've captured all the Sages! No one can stop us now!
(after the final battle):
Jak: We stopped them. Now we have peace forever! Yippeee!

The whole system with the jobs was pretty nice IMHO. The game was good enough overal to keep me entertained. Perhaps it wasn't as strong as other parts of the series when it comes down to the story, but there were some funny parts. Perhaps it was a bit too much cliché? Crystal hunting and such...

Cloud, I bet you just felt like *****ing to something that comes from Square, have you been chatting with Samor too much? :p

But I must agree on FFMQ, that one was just bad. A game that doesn't deserve to be called 'Final Fantasy'.
I like an RPG for the story but Shadow Madness takes that aspect a little too far, dialog even for a non-important person is long an boring, and a main plot point, takes so long you forget what they were talking about because it's so long and boring.

sure. you may pass now.
For me it was Shadow Madness as well. I couldnt have found a better way to waste 30 minutes of my life. After that I made sure the cd wouldnt be found again.
I'm now playing Metal Gear for NES, and I must say the story is kinda interesting, but the spelling and grammar is the worst I've ever seen in a game oO

'the truck have started to move'

'find missing our grey fox'
:eyemove:
It also seems they have messed up the whole story when compared to the MSX version, but I can't compare for myself.
@ Cid : Try playing some SNK games, as their games are the best in terms of Engrish :p . You can find all grammar mistakes ever discovered plus some of their innovative typos

I attached one of my favourite quotes :rotflmao:

Side note : Nice one F-3582, you sure made me laugh here ;)

I don't know if you have read it already, but Slowbeef's MG2 guide for the MSX is just great. I'm almost playing the game because of it :)

Speaking of engrish, here's what Slowbeef has to say about the first game screen:

This is my favorite video game Engrish. "Konami Presents 1990." Thanks so much, Konami! That was a great year for all of us!

If you like good humor, the Introduction alone will make it for you ;)
You should play the MSX version instead, because it has better graphics and actually a Metal Gear in it.

BTW: The original sentence says: "I goofed! The lorry started to move!"
Guess where Konami got the translation...

too bad for slowbeef though that MG2 english wasn't an official translation.
...but it's still amusing :)
