Haha you know what i'm talking about you Nintendo Fanboys! :p Well I am fairly open minded when I read reviews, and this guy just has nothing really nice to say at all! But it's a good read. I'm sure I will know who will agree with it though, lol. :heh:

IMO, all his points are correct, the PSP is a good gaming machine, but the other functions remain pretty limited so far, this review is by far the most objective one I've read.
To be honest, the guy seems to be complaining more about Sony's marketing than the PSP itself.

Perhaps I'm on glue here, but the part he reffers to the article on PCmag.com about "there's no way to capture video content from TV and get it on the PSP directly…Practically speaking, for video you'll be limited to what comes out on UMD". Sure there are, it's called a USB cable.

Unless that is using only a TiVo or PVR of some type with no USB, or form to get it onto removable media. Getting video onto a memory stick isn't rocket science.

Also, it sounds like he is expecting far to much right out of the box, since when was any console 'all that' when it came out? Reaching it's maximum potential takes some time.

Not that I am trying to sound like some kinda fanboy, since I feel the UMD thing is 100% true, and memory sticks just ain't cheap. Of course, as always, moving parts break. But it just doesn't seem to me all that bad in reality.

Other then that, it is a solid review for sure.
I agreed with many points but ones like Cylinder pointed out I disagree with as well. There's lots of ways to get movies and TV shows or whatever on yuor PSP, and it's all basically free as well (other than the memory stick of course)

IMHO there are quite a few hacks, secrets and applications availible already for the PSP that makes it even better. Like the web browser in Wipeout Pure, movie converters and more.

Yea, we can always think of things to make it better and point out faults, and I do agree that most of the reviews are super hyped up, but the PSP is a solid device so far with quite a few extras, that are pretty awesome if you have an internet connection and technological knowledge :p
Razor, you should put an "almost everywhere" in your sig, the PSP won't be out in EU before September apparently, and Sony originaly said it'd come in March, oh wait, who said it was to counter the EU March launch of the DS ? :p
Player-X: I agree with the sentiments there. I find it especially amusing because these debates almost always center around the hardware when hardware means nothing - it's all about the games.

I agree, but I'm also in the minority, because I prefer my CD-MP3 player that supports CDs with MP3s on it. Burn the CD @$0.20 a piece or less and swap 'em on the go. I prefer that to the PSP or the I Pod...

But the games do look nice, and better games will be released in time...

Haha, how true. :p Okay when I say everywhere I mean Japan and North America ^_^ :heh:
So Europe, a market as big as the states, is no where? You are really cruising for a buising.
Japan and North America... uhhu. Im confused but I thought it would be out in Europe by now!
Well the poor Europeans seem to have to wait for everything. :/
the reviewer doesn't seem like a Nintendo fanboy to me....

and yes, we have to wait for everything in Europe. I couldn't stand it anymore and got a DS ^^;

So, that makes my "inventory" a PS2 (Sony), Dreamcast (Sega) and DS (Nintendo). Jack of all trades, fanboy of none :p
ZOMG no XBOX!!! Like, you are so biased. You are an anti-MS guy!! :0
Isn't it a tad dark in your house then? ;)

I have a PS2, GC, DC, PSX, N64, MegaDrive and feck knows what else, why so many, well whats the point in being a fanboy, limitiing yourself to one consoles games, I get a console if has a game I want to play, it's all about gaming!! (Hence no X-Box, aka the Halo machine).

Well Razor, that's how it goes. All of us in Europe are always in 3rd place. The question is why? PSP being short on supplies? C'mon, Sony can made enough of them surely before September? It woun't come out all at once in all the euro conutires. Usally it goes to UK, france and germany first, then going north to sweden and that. The East is missed out as well sadly...
Nice thing is we normally get a far more polished release with less bugs. The games we get normally have alot of bonus features / levels / difficulty settings etc, infact alot of American releases are quite cut down compared to J / E releases.
