Yeah, I pressed the damn F5... no success either.

IMHO this game need 2 controllers plugged in, even if you want to play a single game... A kinda stupid behavior...

Anyways I only have one analog/digital pad and I can't setup my keyboard as a second controller, as the emulator asks for the stupid analog sticks (how can I emulate an analog stick on my keyboard?).

Sorry for my words, I'm starting to get pi**ed...

Regards

the controls of NFS don't work with ePSXe. Indeed, you have to use a different emulator. Calb once sent me a beta that supported NFS, and I think older versions might work too; the reason it doesnt work now is IIRC that fixing that breaks too much compatibility with other games.

slightly OT: if you're experiencing HORRIBLE framerates with (PAL) NFS; that's the game's fault; it does so on an actual playstation(2), sadly.

Could you be more clear on why the controller pad doesn't work on this particular game? Isn't there an input plugin that solves this issue?

PSEmuPro crashes when I try to load the game.

I am trying PSXeven. Looks very nice, but it's input plugin does not support analog sticks. Besides I can't figure out how to install a new PAD plugin on it (like Harakiri).

I'm sorry I can't be more clear; I can only tell you what I already did, which is close to what Calb told me (one of the authors);
NFS1 doesn't support analog sticks btw. It's possible though to try different pad plugins in PSXeven; copy the plugin to the plugins directory; choose the advanced option in the psxeven menu; you should be able to select the correct plugin from there. Note though that I didnt get the controls working in psxeven either (just tried it briefly)

:/

maybe time to try yet another different emu...

adripsx, pcsx and fpse come to mind.... surely one of them ought to run it? :/

A different alternative would be the PC version of NFS; however, that's problematic as well, as it doesn't exactly work nicely under xp.

Already tried PCSX, ePSXe and PSXeven. The game loads ok and fast on them, but no input is possible.

Never thought it would be so hard to make this game run.

Could it be something I am doing wrong?

Sorry to revive a 3 mo old thread, but I have good news...
According to my 3 year old thread (lol), The Need For Speed worked with ePSXe 1.5.1, but not 1.5.2
Don't recall if I ever tried 1.6.0 tho

I'll keep digging out old threads, muahahahaha

*edit* About the horrible framerate Samor mentioned... I never had that problem with this game. Maybe he got mixed up with NFS2? It had some problems, explained in my other thread:
