GMail a saviour of modern times, a blessing to email lovers, not once in all this time of using it have I encountered spam in my inbox - whilst silently their beautiful spam filter system puts all the crap into the /spam/ catagory end removes it quietly without me ever noticing.

But horror of horror this happened today, and the shock is overwhelming, why gmail, why have you failed me now!! CURSE YOU

Okay on a serious note have you noticed that gmails spam filter is absolutely brilliant, almost eerie, why can't hotmail and others get it just so right?

On a secondary note, when will the leading powers of the world make spam just plain illegal, and start filling mass graves with the spam companies? I mean we're not all American, aged 40 needing a morgage to fund our porn / viagra addictions whilst planning to get rich fast and donate money to some african in exile that will give us a share in his swiss bankaccount.

It flagged a particularly tricky email as a false positive once... but incredibly, no false negatives so far.

In fairness, spam filtering is a tough job. I suspect google has been making good use of its crawlers to map spam servers well.

On legislation, I also suspect that the legislators don't really check their public mail personally, so it's not something they've personally experienced, with personal emails being given only to a select few... hence they don't understand the issue. Or worse, they actually think spam is good advertising.

spam is free, and it does work at least a little bit, as amazing as that seems...

btw, i get 1100-1300 spams a month in my SBC account, i guess its because i use that everywhere and not my gmail one

/me waits for Google browser
The google browser seems kinda pointless as long as FireFox keeps up the good work, especially since it is customizable and has a google search bar already :)

well IMO there are a lot of useless google thingies that i will never use. what im thinking is, since google has a lot of excellent programmers, they will probably think they are better and start developing a google browser and, well...who knows, even though firefox rulz kthx

Well, I even came across news about something called a Googleos. That they're indeed planning on entering the OS market. Lost the links, I'll post as soon as I find'em.
