Is SLI and dual-core processing the future of the PC? The SLI and dual-core processing improve greatly the performance of the PC however will these new technologies change the current downward direction of the cost of building a decent PC.

if they make sli the only option of video cards for pc in the future that will be a major downfall for me as the price would be ridiculous.

I think that dual-core processing is here to stay, but SLI will likely be defeated by dual-gpu video cards. A while ago a different version of SLI died out, and I think paying the twice the price for less than twice the performance isn't the way to go.

SLI is not going anywhere. Nvidia has invested too much into the technology. And so (Will have ATI). Dual Core Video cards will never likely be a reality due to power/heat related costs. Currently its still more efficient (Power, Heat Wise) To make a 16 pipeline GPU than its a Dual 8 pipe GPU. In any case its just not nearly as efficient and can cause potential rendering problems

That would be retarded to even think of. SLi is an enthusiast geared product, and will always remain that way. There will always be a huge market for low-end machines it will never happen.

I think SLI won't matter so much to future of computing. But i really hope dual core cpu's get adopted quick and good software support. I seen the prices of dual cores to be reasonable if you build your own computers. But i seen prebuilt systems sell at outrageous prices. SLI will be here to stay but like Reichfuher saids its only for enthusiasts geared people. The same people who buy top end cards are the ones who have SLI setups.

SLI may just be a option and not a replacement like it is now. but never known it may die off or something.
