I don't mean to open a can of worms here but I just wanted to say that I'm very very impressed with the quality and compatibility of ePSXe compared to Bleem.

I purchased Bleem 2 years ago when it came out and I have been using it off and on to play Grand Turismo and a few other games. For the most part I have been very satisfied and I never understood why so many people belly-ached about it. At the time the alternatives were few and under-developed.

Now, 2 years later, I tried ePSXe for the first time last night one my GeForce2 GTS and I'm blown away. Even at 1600x1200 timing in games seem just a hair slow but it may be becuz I'm used to playing them a little fast in Bleem. But graphically Pete's plugins are incredible. I'm using the 1.50 OpenGL plugin and the configurability, good looks and smoothing made my jaw drop.

Sound is also quite good even tho I never thought Bleem sound was that bad. I find ePSXe's sound is a bit hollow but it could just be my speakers.

And finally in terms of compatibility I only have a few games so I tried them and they worked very very well. I'm a believer now and I think I'm going to be using ePSXe as my primary emulator on my game machine. Looks fantastic.

But Bleem still has a place. On my 400mhz laptop, it runs great with GT and looks decent. So when I got on trips Bleem is still coming with me.

So I just wanna say Thank You to all the people who contributed to ePSXe .. it's a great product and it's amazing that it's free! We owe you much amusement!

Indeed! After I found ePSXe and got it working (it took me a while to get the damned thing configured and find a BIOS) it was 300x better then Bleem! much more faster, compatible, better looking, ect. ect.

Strange coiincidence, because if you check the Bleem board I asked yesterday why would anyone pay for a not so compatible , not free emulator
Contrary to Clumzy I took the complete opposite way: I discovered EPSXE 1 month ago and never touched Bleem.
I got the following replies:
1) Bleem has been around for a long time , long before EPSXE
2) Bleem runs on very low performances systems
3) the sound part is one of the best

And last but not least: You EPSXE developpers are a bunch of great persons ( I almost said guys but maybe there are some ladies working on EPSXE development ) Thank's

ePSXe is clearly superior to bleem!. Ayone should be able to see that. I have bleem! as well as ePSXe, but bleem! has become nothing more than a curiosity. ePSXe is, far and away, the best PSX emulator out. Long may it continue.
Sonic98, to which were you referring, bleem! or ePSXe? If you are having troubles getting ePSXe working, please post here and we will be glad to help you.
sincerely,

I tried Bleem! a couple of months ago and I must say it was worse than I expected. I always thought PSX emulation would stay just like n64 emulation: only a few working emulators and tons of bug and imcompatibilities. Bleem! runs a few games and most of them have problems when 3d acceleration is on. One day I saw epsxe and I read that it has a good compatibility. I gave it a try, and WOW! After a long time trying to find the best config, THE BEST PSX emulator ever was working on my pc. I never imagined that psx emu would get to this point. ePSXe is even better than the real PSX.!

I have tried several different PSX emus. My machine is an AMD K6-2/400 with a good 3D video chipset. Most of the emus either don't run or are dog-slow on my machine.

I find ePSXe runs most games decently. The less graphically complex games run at 60 FPS, but games that have a lot happening onscreen tend to slow down to about 45 FPS or slower, so some games are playable but choppy. I have no qualms about sound, etc. I's say ePSXe runs about 80 to 90% of the games I have.

Bleem is much faster. I can easily hit 60 FPS on all the games - that is, on all the games that Bleem can actually run. I find that it can run only about 1/3 of the games I own.

I don't ePSXe really requires a "high perfomance" PC. I played it with normal PSX graphics with my old 333mhz without even a decent video card, infact I was using the crappy built-in 4mb of video ram.

Bleem has some strange speed problems. For example: some people with 233Mhz have reported games playing too fast, while other people with 600Mhz have reported games playing too slow even if both people used the same settings with similar graphics cards. I think someone posted that info here which they had gotten in an Email from a former Bleem employee(if I remember correctly).

I also think ePSXe is better than ever because so many people are working on it, the ePSXe developer and also the plugins creators, and they are still developing(I hope:D) . But I get confused sometimes with so many selection of the plugins. But all in all it's a very good and (mostly) compatible PSX emulator.

Well done!!
